Okay, glad you asked! If you both are going straight, just go. If one of ya' is going right, just GO. If one of ya' is turning left, I'll presume that person is a courteous driver, and signaling, the car going left should wait for the other car to proced.
At least that's the way I learned. And over the years all those "Basic Driving Rules" came to make so much frickin' sense! I have to figure though that they don't bother with teaching such things anymore, the way driving has become.
