The very specific argument was that Short barreled shotguns were not in common use within the Military, at the time, so NFA 1934 was upheld as constitutional and Miller died before he could bring up actual examples and such. Revisiting Miller; in the light of the current military weapons... the NFA should be repealed entirely.

General issue carbine, a 14.5" M4 (SBR) with 3 round burst (Machine Gun)

General issue rifle for the most part, M16 with 20" barrels, but has either full auto or 3 rd burst depending on specific lower model, (MG)

M203/M79 grenade launchers, depending on format (M203 on M4s or M16s); either AOWs or Destructive Devices, squad level issue, not general but still pretty common

1: Any felony committed with a firearm carries a MANDATORY 20-year prison sentence. 2: Any death that occurs during the commission of a felony committed with a firearm carries a MANDATORY life sentence without parole. 3: No firearms charge relating to a felony can be "plea bargained" away and must go to trial. The compromise is that progressive politicians and DAs have to give up on dropping or not charging weapons charges. Simple. No, it won't stop all crimes committed with a firearm, but it will reduce the pool of people available to commit said crimes!

I agree and would add that the other side does not give up and accept a defeat. Unlike the past 200 yrs, politicians now don't care what SCOTUS or even majority say- they will impose restrictions again and again through multiple means to get to the objective. In this case the objective is not safety or confiscation…it's what comes AFTER disarming the citizenry
