Yeah...I was joking about the "Or so I've been told"....part of my post.The United States Chemical Safety Board has a very good video on YouTube documenting combustible dust explosions. Aluminum? Yes. Iron? Virtually anything pulverized will explode as it contains inherent energy and needs only an ignition source.

I do know many things can be used as part of an IED...and do have some experience with the same....

However....my first post here was simply to say that they are also flammable.
And make for an excellent "field expedient " fire starter / tinder ...cancer causing notwithstanding.
