Anyone hunt with a contender or other T/C configuration? What are your thoughts?

I have had Encore frames in my hands so many times with the thoughts of their versatility dancing in my head....then I think of the play in the hinge pin and wonder how long before it becomes inconsistent.....

I guess as long as it keeps locking up nice and tight. People have made some incredible shots with contenders, if you haven't already check out the zombie head hunter challenge on youtube.

You'd think by the number of hunting shows with people using them, you'd see one in the field. I never have.

They seem like a cool deal. People buy a few barrels for them.
Then bring them to the gun store to sell.
And they sit for ever. Or sell tomorrow.(usually not lol)
I guess they seem cool to folks for a little while but as NR said,never seen one in the field

I had one in SS with a 10" .223 barrel. Big heavy pistol that you need sticks or a rest to shoot well. It's gone just like my Ruger bisley hunter in .44 mag.

I've had contenders for years killed a lot of deer with a .44 mag pistol.
Now I have a encore rifle with .44 mag and 45/70 barrels.

I hunted with a Contender in 30-30. Great pistol and killed many deer with it but with the 14" barrel I was limited with the distance without a very steady rest. I still pull it out of the safe and hunt with it from time to time but for the most part it sits on the sidelines.

Biggest Blacktail buck I ever saw harvested was done by a 12 year old girl with a T/C carbine in 7mm-08 her dad built up for her. 225 lbs field dressed
