The only issue would be how much total weight between the two, the roof will only hold so much before it puckers. take into account if you trail it or even just off road that bumps multiply the weight for long enough to also dent the roof enough to not easily pop back.

Would this create problems?
Yes, to your bank account via buying more accessories to fill it, and in return hurting your marriage (if you are in one) leading to a divorce and funding the lawyer who will be laughing on the way to his bank!:s0155:

Wouldn't it depend mostly on the roof rack's load limits?

no issues . RTTs weigh 130-150lbs on average and people Offroad with them. You aren't packing a roof top box with heavy stuff anyway, because it's a pain in the rear to get that stuff up there and down. It's mostly light bulky stuff like sleeping bags , mattress, etc. Two of these on a 4R won't be a problem .

Yep, got me wunna dem dere Cargo Racks. Now I just need me summa dem jerry cans (Oh! jes a minnit: "Fuel Cells", yep! Fuel Cells!). And git me wunna dem whatchamacallit, "Snorkels".

So's when da SHTF, I kin drive right into the Columbia an' not even slow down, I be all like, "Bye Beetches!"

I'm in da market fer a nice shiny new shovel and axe to strap to the rack, of a miniature, non-functional size. Won't ever use 'em, so it just needs to look good.

Oh yeah, and wunna dem "top tents" that only show how impractical they are at 2am when ya need ta take a whiz.

Git 'er all set up and soon mah rig'll be a fully operational PCCV:

"Portland Commute Capable Vehicle".

(See 'em every day, doing nothing but going to work). :s0140:

You clearly have never needed to do a Costco run. I don't think I could make it without engaging 4L and airing down the tires before getting into the parking lot. Also, moving shopping carts without a bumper mounted winch is not a good idea.

Why not just put your gear in the back of the 4R?

I go off-roading and camping frequently, I had a roof rack on my last truck, but I got tired of needing to break out the step ladder to get to things up top. On my current truck I just pack everything into some weather proof, gasketed and latching large totes and leave them in the back. When I get to where I'm going, I just leave them on the side of the truck and utilize the open space in my truck. I also don't like how people leave gear bolted to the outside of their rigs as if they're going on an adventure everyday, I don't like having to remove gear when I'm not using it. I'm not into having doo-dads like shovels, high jacks and canisters on the outside, looks trendy.

I believe that would be a "more remote adventure", requiring that second rack. The OP may be on to something.

@tkdguy do you tow anything or need the hitch space to be free? There are swing-away hitch cargo trays, and it reduces the frontal area so you can save a bit on mileage. Also puts things lower, easier to access.

I do believe I've seen off-road versions that puts the cargo box up a little higher but not rooftop level 1000126723.jpg
