I respect your balanced reasoning and appreciate your perspectiveMy main dislike of Artificial Intelligence is that it is artificial.
Artificial as in the sense that it ain't real.
The augmentation it provides...ain't real...ain't human....No thank you from me at least.
And from what I have read...Artificial Intelligence works to create something that no longer requires human interaction...
Again...No. Thank . You.
I understand that a great many things that are useful and good for mankind are also artificial and not created by nature ...
But created by man.
I understand that at the end of the day it is just a tool.
A tool that many will embrace and work well with.
However...it is a tool that I don't like and don't want to use.
I also understand the irony of me sayin' I dislike Artificial Intelligence 'cause it is artificial...
While I post said opinion, on a computer...
Go on HAL...shut me out of the air lock now.

Sadly, with many, it is not artificial.I am more concerned with Artificial Ignorance

That photo reminds of this one time back in the day, when I had an M60 and 1,200 rounds of ammo…

^ This. What is being worked on right now will be game changing for our species.I think AI is going to be most dramatic in its combination with the biological sciences. AI's in its comic infancy right now.
My personal timeline is a little steeper, but I agree with most of what your saying to be completely possibleI think AI is going to be most dramatic in its combination with the biological sciences. AI's in its comic infancy right now. It so bad its laughable but 75-100 years from now I think we will have the capability to do complete genetic editing. You'll be able to live forever. Not everyone can live forever. That would have disastrous effects on the ecology of the planet, so how is the world's population going to react to a race of immortals, and how will the immortals tolerate the rest of humanity? Then it gets weirder as we gain the ability to design and create life at will. AI will drive those advances.
My timeline is the worst case . Its kind of like Fusion where its always 30 years away. Need a little cushion .My personal timeline is a little steeper, but I agree with most of what your saying to be completely possible
