When you have people walking into gun stores, with "Best 5 home protection guns" googled on their search bar on their phones.

Yay, you gonna have a panic season.

There was one point this last April, that literally whatever was left, people bought. It could have been a $3500 Noveske or $3000 Wilson Combat. People wanted something.

Interesting obseration from another board:
"The wild card in the current ammunition situation is that only Olin and Federal produce primers domestically. Any other domestic manufacturer has to buy primers off of those two or buy off of foreign suppliers. International Cartridge Corp in March/April screwed up and double ordered primers off of Fiocchi and were at the time crying the blues, but now are laughing all the way to the bank!

Another person in the industry was telling me that a couple of months back, Hornady had a tiff with Federal, and Federal CUT THEM OFF on shipping any primers. Hornady had to crawl back and apologize in order to get their orders of primers.

[as a side note, Federal is now using "allocation" based off of 2019 historical purchasing data to set what a customer can order currently. Due to price increases, they are allowing that percentage increase on the allocation. I was told that they are booking 3-4 million dollars in new orders EVERY day, and they are quoting delivery around January 2022!]"

There is a danger, slim but real, that enough of the congress critters will take a win as a mandate, and then begin top act on that perceived but probably not reality based assumption. Danger to the herd/band often causes a stampede, or for a more primate-centric metaphor, a mass exodus into the trees.

I think that's what's happening. A few start jumping into the branches, more see it and follow suit, and pretty soon a lot of us are buying TP we don't need.
They always take a win, no matter how slim a margin, as a mandate to ram their agendas down our throats.

The Coronavirus is the master switch. The rioters will tire of rioting when the Coronavirus diminishes and people are recalled to work, and people can get on with their lives. Same thing in the late 60s early 70s - the demonstrations ran out when the Draft ended. That's not to say the kids don't believe in their cause, but overall life is still pretty good in this country and given the opportunity people are mostly self-interested.

Trump doesn't care about anyone except Trump, this is true. But it's no secret Uncle Joe and that devil woman have machinations for pervasive gun control, and anyone who doesn't see that plainly just doesn't want to see it, and there's no convincing them.

Seems the "Panic Season" will happen every 4 years regardless of who's in office. So maybe buy low and sell high, seems the masses can be manipulated quite easily these days...

Yes, it's panic season. Just like fall of 2016, only worse.

Election polls have the communist/socialists in the lead.
Ds have openly said they will confiscate semi-autos.
Prisons are releasing thousands of criminals from jails on some made-up COVID excuse.
Criminals who are caught are released by D-controlled DAs.
People who display weapons to prevent attack by hordes of D thugs are arrested and prosecuted.
Police refuse to protect law-abiding citizens from hordes of D thugs.
D governments prohibit police from controlling arsonists, looters, and thugs.

If Hiden Biden is elected, and if Ds take over congress, they will likely have a confiscation/registration bill for him to sign on inauguration day, right before he tries to read his inauguration speech.
Ammo purchases, if allowed, will be limited, highly taxed, and will require background checks.
Each cartridge will require a laser-engraved ID on the case and on the bullet - tied to YOU.
Edit - added: Hiden Biden has vowed to make gun manufacturer's responsible for crimes committed with their guns.

There are rumors of forced vaccinations.
The economy is in bad shape due to COVID hysteria, and many expect a cataclysmic collapse, particularly if Ds take over.

Half the population is pushing for socialism/communism.

Panic season? It's warranted.
This is a rather narrow vision of what MAY happen and how things currently are.

No one is discussing another set of parameters that may soon be surfacing, particularly under the auspices of an all-D election result.

Patriots rising.

Just my observation based on having my thumb on the pulse of freedom and liberty loving Americans all across the nation.

Aaaaand prices are dropping. Just saw the 590 Shockwave down from a panic level high of $1099 if you can get one to $359 today. Here comes the flood gents.

Barring any further news events, it might be a good summer.

Anyone who paid 3X for a SW was an idiot when they could be found easily for 2X or less. But that didn't stop sellers from trying to hook the big fish who was dumb/desperate enough to pay 3X.

I never understood the brisk sales at $699 to be honest, but the $1099 guys were the ones who provided the 'service' of mostly having one in stock for those who really really wanted one. The price of the base model Mossy shockwave is just one series of data but the trend seems pretty broad, from ammo on to other firearms related goods.

If we don't get any more discomfiting news I'm looking forward to a good rest of 2021.

Ammo prices is much more apparent than guns themselves as it is a consumable and constantly needing to be restocked, but yes, the prices vary widely for those who are not patient enough to wait and search for deals - or who are desperate idiots (same people probably).

I gave away one of my Shockwaves and some ammo to a neighbor moving to Montana who said he would like one for bear protection while fishing. He was a great neighbor - always volunteering to help me with stuff - like getting up on my metal shop roof for much of the day to pressure wash off the tree debris (I am old, clumsy and afraid of heights) or spending 3 full days working on burning my slash piles - just as a few examples of his being helpful.

I recently read an article explaining primers are all hand packed and the mixture is kept wet in a tank. point of article is it takes years of experience for the employees to learn how to do such a dangerous and precise job. they really have no quick way of expanding primer production quickly.
I have read the opinions most have on shooting reloads of unknown origin! how would you like to work on an explosives assembly line and have them sit the new guy next to you?:(

Seems really bizarre that we don't have a robot for that. I used to implement factory automation and the repetitive/dangerous work is generally the first to go. Automation can be really dextrous now.

Hard pass

i agree just repeating what I read, the article said an experienced packer could tell if the mixture was wrong in the 1st tray.
