Well folks, I knew it was bound to happen, I am mentally fatigued and could not concentrate on driving today, was only able to drive less than 200 miles.:(
Depending on how I feeling tomorrow morning, we may stay another day in Platte City, Mo.
We're 16+ hours from home now.
Well, you are only about 30 miles out of KC. Were it me I'd rest up and take a day for some fine BBQ. I spent a week once doing a security audit for KCPL and did BBQ twice a day at different spots. Not a one was a hair shy of outstanding.

Heck I'd have probably just driven the half hour and parked at Arthur Bryant's and stayed there until they gave me bunch of ribs to make me go away.

This ole gal was 40 something before she made the trek across US of A and look how much it took out of her ......

Safe travels out there my friend . :)

I love a good road trip, but gee golly, I sure wouldn't want to be towing a trailer across the country.

Good luck!

Maybe think about changing your name to "Florida Man Jim"

Thanks Andy, the same advice my son had relayed earlier and what I am seriously contemplating.
Yes sir, take your time, get the rest both physically and mentally that you need, take care of you. You're so close, a day or two delay to get yourself in order, is an investment in your future plans.

Be careful out there brother, lots of crazies on the roads…

@Caveman Jim You don't have any absolute times you must be somewhere do you? Hell, take a rest if not! You're on, what you could call, a LONG LONG vacation, for the rest of your life. slow down and try to enjoy it a little.

I can only imagine after seeing the Cavemans reloading shop and it's organization that it must be really hard to have your life totally upside down. Getting home is not going to happen necessarily in the traditional sense. What awaits Jim and his wife in Florida at there home is a lot of work turning his destination property into a home.
I for one would be wanting out of of that Uhaul and getting it unloaded and turned in.
I did a load in one in one in April and drove it 110 miles and it never felt so good to get it home and unloaded and dropping that key in the slot.
Good luck Jim.
I sure hope we dont lose touch with you.
I for one, am anxious to see your progress with your new life. And wishing it was me.
If I could pick up and move it would be a short list of where I want to go. Florida.
The heat and humidity and weather and Gators are going to shortly be easier for me to transition into as they dial up the hellstorm that Washington has become and see no end in sight.
My biggest concern is that I can save my equity in my house and/or find someone that can and wants to buy my house when it comes time.
These concerns have me reconsidering reverse mortgage and or a massive Heloc so I can get my equity out.
The Washington socialist programs are very expensive and soon anyone with anything will be giving it up for the freeloaders.
Record setting deficit with record setting tax increases and now $150,000,000 to give illegals insurance now they are getting kicked off Medicsde that they shouldn't have been on in the first place.
When is enough enough or too much?
Now the Vancouver library wants to increase their levy from .27 to .50 per $1,000 of value of your property which is another hit on affordable housing. That's an 85% increase by my math.
Jim, my friend, you are my hero and I wish I had your big brass ones.
Good luck, sir.

I am voting for Jim's new handle to be:

CenoteJim

Florida Cenotes bring new meaning to the words "fishing hole", which I am sure he will want to check out. Although, now that I am thinking about this, I am not sure how he is going to launch his boat??? :p

WOW, what a difference it makes when a weary traveler gets 12+ hours of un-interrupted sleep, well except 1 pee trip. I felt so good today that we decided to drive from 10 AM till 930 this evening only going 400+ miles. We pulled into the rest stop just south of Mt. Vernon…. Illinois.
We're about 10 hours drive due South away from home. :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2: :thumbsup2:

We'll try and sleep for six-seven hours, then eat our leftover breakfast from Denny's that we had this morning and hit the road around 5 AM.

I can only imagine how excited you are Jim.
I'm very excited for you myself.
Thanks for chronicling this for us.
More pictures please

You're living the dream!
Mine is similar, but I only need to drive to Arizona! 🌵

Nothing like leaving the all the anti-freedom morons in the rear view mirror. You're almost there!
Without any fanfare, we made it to our homestead this afternoon. Unloaded the car from the trailer and drove to our best friends house for dinner and a shower. Now the work begins but we have help to unload the U-Haul.
Two beers and I'm off to la la land.
