Gun control in the US has a long and well documented history of being motivated by race and class, adjusting the tax based on inflation or any other criteria is right in line with that.
Maybe next they will bring back the LEO sign off on NFA items so the local Sheriff can catch any 'undesirables' that slipped through with misleading names

Imo to put in context one would have to do a deep dive into the reasons behind the 1934 gun act. Me and everyone else makes a lot of assumptions without having enough info I think.

Fe I assume it's because they wanted to get dangerous and unusual guns out of the hands of thugs and gangsters. But if that were the case wouldn't gangsters just find a work around like having multiple peons sign up for a stamp on their Tommy guns? And real gangsters could afford any price stamp at that time. So this leads me to believe they wanted to keep them out of the hands of the lowest thugs? Remember all handguns were to be banned originally but it got changed in the 11th hour.

There have probably been books written on the origin of the 1934 NFA I woudl guess. Politicians just choose whatever memes or explanations for their purpose. Such is the case with D politicians whose goal is to ban ALL our guns. My guess is the 1934 NFA was just a simple overreaction to gangster violence and it was poorly thought out. Similar to Trump banning bump stocks and idiot Biden (his handlers actually) wanting to ban anything he can. The same mass shooters would simply use vehicles or ? If they banned semi autos. Besides there are already hundreds of millions of them in circulation so it wouldn't stop much of anything.

Agreed, but that still doesn't address the fact that on average there's about 700,000 US citizens per Federal Representative....with some districts having more, and others having fewer.

The argument was "drivers cant hear sirens or other cars!" While conveniently leaving out the fact that millions of deaf/hearing impaired people drive cars and trucks just fine.....
