Here's a thought.... instead of allowing a lawsuit against a gun manufacturer and FFL retailer, how about suing the parents of the shooter for producing a defective idiot who should ALREADY know better, as well as suing the supposed ADULT who enabled two children unsupervised access to the pistol....

For what it's worth, if the parents sued Springfield and the store that sold the gun, I'll bet dollars to donuts they sued the gun owner as well. They're clearly in "throw enough mud" mode. But when it comes to the gun owner, they would at least have a case that makes some sense.
