I caught a really bad chest cold/sore throat around Memorial Day that I finally got rid of a couple of weeks ago.
Deep hacking cough that threw my lower back out, plus a day of 102* fever.
Just would not go away. My wife got it from me and she was fine after two weeks.
I did take a Covid test and it was negative.

My recollection is that cases are actually quite high right now, but anecdotally I don't know a whole lot of people who've gotten it recently minus one or two bands who picked it up on tour a few weeks ago. I do know that there's been a nasty sinus/upper respiratory thing going around in my circle of friends for the last few months, similar to what @jbett98 describes above, but no other positive covid tests that I'm aware of.

Check Local, State, and Federal reporting, if it is of interest...

Here is CDC modeling estimates. Methods are shown at page bottom.

My location Maricopa County, AZ shows reported 578 cases, which is substantially less than last Rona-Season. Maybe less people are reporting their illness, or the infections are less noticeable.

Here is Oregon's Respiratory Virus Data.

My wife just had something similar for ten days. She was pretty miserable but she didn't get tested. She caught it from my disease carrying, door knob licking grandkids on the fourth of July. I try to limit handling the little brats too much but she can't seem to get enough of them! Lucky for me a family emergency happened and I left town right after and got a taste of freedom and good health over in Idaho until she was past the contagious period.

I had my second round of it about two weeks ago. The first round I was sicker than I ever had been in my life; in comparison the second round was nowhere near as bad. Still miserable though.

I am asking because my daughters family has it, in Eugene and my 79 yo brother in ldaho has had it for the last week.

I didn't get the shot and I had it for like 2 1/2 days and then for about 2 weeks I had I cold that just wouldn't go away.

I know people who got the shot and still had severe Covid.

my daughters family all got the shot as did my brother in idaho.
my brother in Wyoming didn't get the shot and had a mild case.
I did not get whatever booster was supposed to defend against the strain I finally got in 2023. I otherwise managed to dodge getting it for almost three years despite being an "essential worker" and working with the public all day, every day, including people who would deliberately try to get me sick.

When I finally did get it in 2023, I was sicker than I've ever been in my life. I got it at a Mariners game with my dad. He did get the booster and had a very mild case despite being, again, in his mid-seventies and generally not as healthy as me.

I have since gotten the others and have been exposed numerous other times and haven't gotten it. Seems to help. Don't have interest in debating the politics of it, just relaying my experiences.
