I built another AR last weekend. A2 upper receiver + SOCOM bbl. PSA lower parts kit with a CMC trigger. It's a Colt 727 Clone "inspired by" build.

Anyway, I enjoy some quiet time in the garage working with my hands.

I pooped today! :s0023:
Not too hard.
Not too soft.

After watching about 40 hours of you tube videos, I replaced my carpeted stairs w/ hardwoods. Finally built up the confidence and didn't want to pay the $7,000 they wanted to install them. You Tube has literally saved me thousands of dollars...thank you to all the folks that share their knowledge.
That is one BIG hit for the tube. There seems to be very little you can't find there. I have LONG wished more would just show how to do something though without hours of talk. Does come in super handy though.

Life is a mix of failure and success. Today was a day of success.

A member posted a bunch of reloading equipment and components this morning for what appeared to be $100. I asked for confirmation of price in ad and pm'd him to let him know I would buy it if the price was indeed a $100 for the lot. He didn't respond but he advertised it as a garage sale and included the address. I decided to take a gamble that it was a $100 and it would still be there when I arrived. I had to wait for the washing machine to finish it's cycle so I could put the clothes in the dryer. That was the longest 8 minutes of the year. I made a quick trip to bank and headed to garage sale. The stuff was still there when I arrived but another gentleman was trying to get a deal on the stuff. I confirmed with seller that it was a $100, which it was and I told the guy trying to get a deal that I would buy it for the $100 asking price if he didn't want it. He said go ahead, I said are you sure and he said yep. I guess he didn't want to pay the asking price. So I paid the seller and they helped me load it up. Here are some of the bigger items.

There was a fair amount of fired brass, media and a bunch of small stuff. The tumbler appears to be a pretty nice one.

For $100 I am going to call this a success.

I successfully bruised 3 vertebrae falling down a set of hardwood stairs in my socks once. So you may want to watch for that.

On the way home from a long weak on the road exploring, getting tired, Stopped in at Harriet Lake for lunch and a rest. Getting tired of the food we had left so tried my luck for some fish. The only spot open to me already had two families there at the little boat ramp but said welcome to me anyway and they had been there all morning without so much a bite. I stayed as far to the edge of them as I could. Using a light spinning rod, casted my hand tied mosquito fly attached four foot off a tiny casting float into the middle of the lake and got a strike just as the fly lay down and before the float hit the water. I reeled in a fat almost 14 inch beauty, commented it was just perfect for my wife and I for lunch, turned and walked back to the van with a smug look on my face. I didn't look back but it had turned silent, even the dog stopped barking, likely sorry they said I could stay.
Pan fried in butter and with some spuds , caramelized onions and fresh coffee, plus a short nap was a perfect rest stop.
That's a successful day for me.
IMGP1953-1.JPG The meat was very firm and as pink as Humpback Salmon.
