I have recently acquired my grandfathers Stevens single shot 12 gage farm gun.
I want to restore the gun to preserve it for future generations when I pass it down to my son.
This will be my first time doing a total restore, and rebluing the barrel and small parts.
I can't find the model of the gun, or a date yet.
I have it narrowed down to pre WWI, and maybe a early 94, 105, or 85 model?
The Top snap lever is cocked sideways, and not sure if the locking bolt rod is bent, or if I 20190521_202822.jpg 20190521_202822.jpg 20190528_134524.jpg 20190529_082447.jpg 20190528_134334.jpg 20190528_134349.jpg need to find parts.
Also need to find a reproduction stock for it, and the stock bolt is bent.

Thanks

If its pre-WWI, its not a 94.
Production of that gun started in 1929.
Chances are good its either a 105 or 107.
Numrich will have parts. Velzy can do the work and get the parts.
I understand he does stellar work.

Thats about what i got too, closest match was the model 85 in schematics.
I have the gun completely striped down, and all parts to bare steel now.
Will probably make a new stock bolt in machinist shop, if i get the time.
The stock i
s the next hurdle, can find a close match, but without the rounded bulb feature.

I've been told that the reason the old butt stocks used to crack was because they used Walnut back then.
Birch seems to be common with less expensive guns and Myrtle is a popular wood, too.
I think Myrtle is what my ol' Winchester lever gun used...

JaguarMk1,

Took a bit to find this one again, but here's a pretty good video on repairing and restoring a Stevens 94. Similar tactic should apply to your gun....
