This might be the one. I bought one of these at the last Albany gun show since I had never seen one before.

This one was originally made by Powers Gun Works (PGW) in Powers, Oregon.

I've heard it referred to as a "PGW Carbine"; don't know if there was another name or not. I think they were made from 1984-1986 by Darrell Holland, who is still a gunsmith down there.

Later, they were made by a place in Auburn, Wa and called the D-Max Carbine. See:
