I found this in my travels; the unintentionally hilarious 1981 made-for-HBO St. Helens "starring" Art Carney as Harry R. Truman. Seems fitting for the anniversary of said eruption. Enjoy!

My wife was in the middle of her college graduation in Spokane when the mountain blew up. She had an interesting day.
 
Haven't seen this.
I stood in front of our house and watched the mountain blow, here in Longview, WA.
My cousin, who lived in Lexington, a suburb of Longview that runs along side the Cowlitz river. Nels walk over the dike to the river and picked up a 35 lb, Chinook salmon that was suffocating on the ash clogged water.
Jerry and his wife with died at Fawn Lake. Jerry and his wife Sam where camping at Fawn Lake, more that 17 miles from Mt. Saint Helens. The "safe zone"
I had worked with Jerry in the paint shop at International Paper here in Longview.
An interesting time.
