I'm kinda digging the commander sized version.

I hope Springfield does a good job with this pistol.

I have the railed TRP (3-4 years?) and the Wesson Specialist from 2013.
These are directly competing pistols.

The Wesson is the more refined pistol. it just feels like the next higher quality/finish level.
The TRP is heavier less refined with a so so trigger....That said I find it easy to shoot with accuracy.

Now bring this up to modern day....I brought in a 2021 Wesson V-Bob in stainless.
Nowhere near as nice a pistol as the 2013 Specialist (or any of the mid teen's Wessons}.
The new V-Bob has the less refined feel of the TRP.
No more newer Wessons for me until they get that old high quality feel back.

I would like to see Springfield make the new TRP an equal to the older Wessons with regard to fit, finish and silky high end feel.

I hope they get this right.
I think Wesson has left them an opening to make a move.

I know....I'm speaking Sacrilege.
Just my opinion.

Ditto, I hope so as well.

I am interested in the commander size Classic. I have 2 commander size 1911's but both have aluminum alloy frames. I need (Want!) one with steel frame/slide. This one would do it. GI recoil system as well. Good stuff...

Hand-fit seems to mean that hands selected parts which fit closely. I do not think that any actual hand-work is done on them - not at $175/hour in the US.
Yeah that's a clever little piece of copywriting there. I read it as hand selected slide to frame mating/fit, but they're saying they're numbering individual parts to the gun and hand-fitting them. To me, that means they're probably doing a little hand-fitting on a couple things and hand-selecting some. I'm guessing barrel/bushing and thumb safety have a human touch. BTGS looks failry decent fit on the promo photos but I imagine they hand select that. Clearly the magwell isn't blended. At $2k you're mostly getting tighter tolerances, but it works for Wilson Combat and Chris Reeve these days.

The railed commander bobtail is not an often seen combo. I bet they won't sell well and will become a cult thing later on.

Overall, a step up for the TRP and another option in the Dan Wesson space. I'd rather have the DW version of nitride than cerakote as a finish but the Wesson designs of late are looking more and more corny. I may have to give the TRP a try.

If I can get my hands on one of the bobtailed commanders, they'll probably sell at least 1. But who knows. $2k can go a long way toward a custom gun or really anything at all for that matter

Shoot, you can pick up a barely used Wilson or Ed Brown these days for $2k if dig a little.
When I hear the name Ed Brown, I get a mental imagine of a chain smoking fat old man with suspenders and a trucker hat who "knows what he has"
