there are quite a few platers that do firearms in hard chrome, the most durable finish you can put on a gun.

Armoloy was supposed to be a more durable proprietary finish that actually increased the R value a bit. I had an Argentinean 1927 (45) done in it, it's held up nicely. They are long out of biz
