The thread from 2012 inspired me to ask this question. So I'm looking at complete rifles for around the price point of the title. I have a PSA 10.5 pistol and I've had a couple of other builds. I'm now looking for something slightly higher end and a rifle that I can keep for a lifetime and be proud of. So my question for you all is what would you buy and why?

Bcm
colt
Daniel defense
Lwrc di
Barrett rec 7 di

Lots of good ar's out there. Also a lot I'd stay away from. I just put a factory Bcm upper on a radian lower and it's heaven. Probly my new favorite. Only thing about a factory rifle. Seems like you can't always have exactly what you want. Be it barrel length or a particular hand gaurd or whatever. Best of luck to yea.

I'm ok with having to switch some peripheral parts out to get the exact fit and finish I want; I just want to start with the best weapon possible and build from there.

Unfortunately in this current state we live in. Finding a good factory rifle is going to be tough. But not impossible. If I were strictly looking for a factory rifle. I'd Probly get a Daniel defense ddm4v7. Mlock. Great factory hammer forged barrel. Great rifle if you can get one. I had the opportunity to get one on sale for 1600 new and never did. Still kicking myself in the bubblegum

But I also have 2 factory Bcm rifles and 3 factory Bcm uppers on different lowers. I'm kinda in love with Bcm. I wish I never would have sold my Daniel defense v11

SOLGW and Sionics. BCM is another good one but I have heard about of hit and miss on quality control lately. I'd strongly consider any of these.

If you can go over that budget by just a bit, there's an FN-15 in stock here that has some upgrades: FN 36301 FN 15 Sporting Semi-Auto .223 18" 30+1 Magpul CTR Black

For no frills, there are some bare-bones ones in stock here for only $1099.88: FN FN15 CARBINE MLOK 556 16' 30RD. I think that's a fantastic deal, and you would have enough left over to at least upgrade the stock and pistol grip, and get yourself a sling and some more magazines.

I agree with the great brands listed so far, but would also add Lewis Machine & Tool and FN-USA. I'm particularly biased toward FN because they made the M16 I deployed with. The civilian models I've handled have also had great build quality, but at a lower price point than many of the others. I wouldn't hesitate to trust one with my life.

Thanks for all of the ideas! There are a few rifles on this thread I haven't seen yet! I'll also see if anyone knows if any of their recommendations are available locally?

Colt 14.5 M4 URG from Shark Arms ($400), have shimmed, pinned and welded to 16" w/FH by John Thomas at Retro Arms Works (about another $100; Shark can dropship straight to Retro), buy lower assembly from any reputable brand (Colt, BCM, LMT, whoever of that tier). Then it's just Optic, Mags, Ammo. I suggest checking the Buy-Sell-Trades here and at Arfcom or M4C for stocks/grips/etc.

One basic issue-spec M4 ready for personalization, assuming Shark has stock, at about half your budget. :)

Comes out about like this:

POF USA makes good stuff. I bought a minuteman 5.56 AR pistol a few weeks ago.

I paid $1470 for it. If you told me several years ago that I would spend almost $1500 on an AR, I'd probably slap you lol.

I tried to shoot the 5.56 ammo out of it, but the ding dongs at rifle dynamics told me no. So I used my conversion kit and shot .22lr out of it and it worked well.

They said my 10.5" barrel would have too much blast etc. First they asked if I had a suppressor, and I do but it's in ATF jail. So that was a hard no go as far as me shooting 5.56

But they allowed a guy to shoot his compensated AR15 carbine next to me. Everytime he pulled the trigger, I called him the C word lol.... in my head ;)

Go out to Rich's gun shop in Donald. Indoor shooting range. You can bring your own ammo and shoot 5.56 inside. I use to shoot my Bcm pistol there with a Lantac dragon. Everyone looked at me weird but it's allowed

I'm not going there again.
