I'm, not sure if the solar solicitors are as aggressive in your area as they are in mine but I will say these guys are ruthless, rude, sneaky, and unwavering. For years now these guys will knock on the door and try to sell solar. Over time and getting told no and to go away they have changed tactics. Now they are here to talk about state mandated programs. If they get a chance to talk for very long you will eventually get to the sales pitch part of it all. They all ask what my bills are and how much I pay and both myself and the wife tell them it's none of their business unless they want to start making the payments. The will come back with "we can save you money" and the wife will tell them we work for the power company and like paying for our power just to get them to go away.

My wife ran blocker for me for a long time as she knows I am not a nice guy to these folks. One particular company wanted to make an appointment with me and the wife told them that I would not speak with them. The guy would not leave until he had an appointment with me....so the wife told him you can come back but he will not speak to you. The day of the appointment a guy showed up asking for me and said we had an appointment. I told him no, you had an appointment and your guys would not listen to my wife. I promptly asked him to leave as he was now trespassing.

Other companies have tried the same tactics and we turned them all away. The wife bought this really nice sign that says no soliciting. It goes ignored and they just walk past it and say some b.s. about they are not selling anything. Again, we point to the sign and tell them to leave. Over and over these guys keep coming and each person or pair of people has their own way of explaining why they walked past the sign.

Today a pair of young men dressed alike in skinny jeans, white hats with an American flag on them, and white shirts make their way to my front door. The walked right passed my sign like all the rest. I now exit my house through a side door and greet them from 40 feet away and ask what I can do for them. The song and dance starts...."well, let me first confirm I am at the right house, is your name XXXX?" I again ask what I can do for them without answering who I am. More song and dance and when pressed harder in my I'm getting pissed voice they state they are here about a state mandated.......I cut him off and told him they failed to read the sign at the end of the walkway and to go back and read that and leave my property at once. He kept yabbering and I had to tell him his feet needed to start moving now or else he may not be able to walk with them ever again as I made my way back in the house. I heard them yabbering the whole way back to their car that had Montana plates on it.

I really wished these guys would just stop. I have done everything I can to be as firm and direct as I can and they just come back for more. Signs don't work, telling them no does not work.....nothing stops them. Usually when I bark at someone, like a religious door knocker, and ask what I can do for them they get the hint and split.....not these jokers. I know if someone barked at me like I do them I would run to my pickup and get out of dodge.

I need to know the magic words to make these guys stop.

Yes. These punks torment me, and they wont leave. I eventually scream and holler at them and froth at the mouth but they still wont leave. They tell me they are sent by PGE. No they're not! And then they continue, "do you like wasting money?" A short time ago, I saw them coming down the street. I asked my neighbor to intercede for me as I did not want to have to be an bubblegum again. For whatever reason, they changed directions and we didn't have to deal with them.

These are unbelievable tactics they use.

Same problem here and they are using the same tactics. Want to talk about stuff and when I ask if they are selling anything they deflect and bring up other topics. I tell them Im not interested and they have the audacity to question why I dont want to know more about whatever. Im at the point of taking pictures and calling the police for tresspassing next time they return.

What works for us is two dogs that don't come across as friendly, they do a great job of running blocker for us in n our property.

1- Purchase 1 pair skinny jeans , 1 white flag hat, 1 white shirt, and a skeleton from the Halloween Store.
2- dress the skeleton and lay it out by front door
3- cover with tarp

Next time ask them to lift the tarp for you.

OR…..

I bet if you tied one up to the breeding machine they use for horses and called in the neighbor's bull, the other one would run away like their hair was on fire

Do not open the door.
Do not talk to them.
Do not acknowledge their existence at all.

I told the window sales guys at Costco today that I was a renter. He wasn't interested in talking after that.

It really is the same playbook. If I can think of it next time maybe I will record them and ask them if they are the same people that stole property from me and are coming back for more......

I have a No Soliciting sign on my door. They ignore it. I generally ignore them until they get the point and leave.

If they are tenacious I do not open the door and tell them I am sick and what do they need.

They very very rarely pursue it past that.

A No Trespassing sign on your locked gate.

If you do not have a way to lock access to your front door, such as a driveway that is open to the public sidewalk, then try a sign like this

I had thought "no soliciting" signage has some type of rule/weight of law in Oregon.

Something along the lines of trespass, if soliciting. As in the solicitor IS trespassing with "no soliciting" signage present. Not that you would have to file a trespass request on them.

-Did some looking & seems to be local ordnance, not State. As far as I can tell anyways.

In my locale its similar to as I wrote above, & is noted to be a misdemeanor.
