Anyone want to help? I have to completely strip my AR to send the upper and lower in for Gunkote. Can I do it myself or can someone in my area show me how to do it.. I think I could do the lower myself but I need to take off the barrel and what not... THX  I will supply the beer and muchas gracias!
You'll need an action block and a wrench, if I had them I would take you up on the free beer! I tend to mooch them off others as needed... It's not difficult by any means, but do find someone with the correct tools, or you can damage the upper.
OK well can anyone lend me a punch set and the barrel and stock wrench?? I got almost all of it done, I just need the gas tube punch , and the wrenches. Come on guys, I guess I could buy em but that is like $80
You going to the show today? There were plenty of wrenches at the last one for <$30 And a set of roll pin punches can be had @ harbor freight for <$20 ( if you are going to buy anything, get these, it will help immensely when you assemble your next lower....) Now the expensive part is the clamshell for the receiver.... Heh....I'm not helpin' am I.....:bluelaugh:
I just put up an ad on fortmoe to borrow a set.. I am not going to the gunshow this time.. too much money for parking and getting in to buy nothing.. I have faith someone around here will hook a brother up!
Saw that... Someone will hook you up, they've helped my sorry butt numerous times... Seriously though, get yourself a set of roll pin punches at the minimum, they have saved my butt a few times.
need help stipping or reassembling your ar15 .i found that on brownells web set they have a free insructional video on how to build a complete ar15 lower ,upper front sight ,trigger everything.it is very easy
I found a set at Sears that works Ok I think this is it. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00904285000P
You really want roll pin punches... http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00999386000P See the little nub on the end??? It centers the punch in the roll pin and supports it so it ( the pin ) doesn't get mangled. Granted, this is the EXPENSIVE set...
