Didn't get a white Christmas, but today is the kids birthday and he is super excited to get toin the snow in his birthday!

Boring picture of the backyard for reference.

I have a Lab/Shepard puppy and this was his first snow. No pics because I didn't think to have a camera in hand and was too busy playing with him to go get one.

We got a good dusting here so far. On the way home the freeway was make up your own lane as lines were gone:eek: Most were being careful. I had 4WD with snow tires so no problem. Watched a few cars slip sliding around. One poor guy and a slight down hill tried to make his turn, did a complete slow spin and a half. Ending up in the wrong lane facing opposite direction he was trying to go . I stopped and turned my lights on to slow traffic behind me so he could get going again and make his street. Now tomorrow morning when the commute starts again? This will be a huge damn mess.

My older dog used to love the snow. He is almost 10 now and although he appeared to want to go nuts like he used to, he took it fairly easy. Dogs love snow.

Glad that your boy is able to have some fun in the snow on his birthday. Down/up here at the logging site, I got 10" of fresh snow at my camp since last night, putting me at 14" , and probably 3'+ at the top of the cut. I stopped about 3/4 mile from the top when I got out to clear snow off my hood after it slid off the roof but couldn't open my door without shoveling snow out of the way. It's still snowing pretty good too. I should've bought a snow mobile during the summer....
Yesterday morning.

More of a personal annoyance, I'll admit. There's nothing in the roads yet we're still in deer-in-the-headlights mode. Happens every time winter sneezes.
It can be a pain but I give myself LOTs of time. Going home this morning on freeway the lines were gone, so I went 40 in a 60 and stayed far enough right anyone who wanted could pass. A few did, not going anything close to posted. A LOT were content to drop in behind me and follow at my speed. Side roads when I got home I was staying 5 under and again leaving room. No one wanted to go faster. The commute tomorrow will be the killer. Its going to be ice and people with SUV's will leave late, rush, and find out they can go but still not stop and soon there will be wreck after wreck.

Giving yourself lots of time when it is icy / snowy is always a good idea.
I have a 4x4 truck...but I also know the wisdom of my father is true...
"Son , four wheel drive is to get you out of trouble , not into it."

At one point we had around 6-7" on the ground. The county plowed the road twice today so no travel issues. Just dropped back to 32deg and the kids are hoping for much more snow as this is the first real snow since we moved into our new place.

I'd rather drive slow than wish I would have. Besides I'm retired so the longer it takes me to get places the longer I feel like I'm living. As in I don't want to be in a hurry to get to the end.

I got called into work early and I saw several drivers on the side of the road who wished they had gone a little slower. :D

Driving in snow isn't hard in a Subaru with snow rated tires. I turn off the traction control to remind me of how it was. Did some donuts, well the best you can in a 4x4, in the culdesac just because.

That's what life's about right there!
