This sounds kinda dumb, but would it work for 5.56? Or only pistol calibers?

I suppose it would work on a 5.56 AR. It is a standard buffer tube. It came off of a CZ scorpion, where the buffer tube was empty. There's no spring or buffer in it when I took it off. But it is standard buffer tube diameter.
