Most new shooters are not going to make shooting an integral part of their life, or even a major hobby they participate in regularly. Most want to be barely proficient, such that they can hit a man-sized target at about 5 yards max. That only takes a bare minimum amount of skill to do, and certainly does not require training on multiple platforms to accomplish.
