UPDATE 1: This is from the Bundy Ranch Facebook page.

6:40PM — The resource center is at a heightened level of alert. We have been informed that Ammon was taken in to custody in John Day and that shots were fired, but confirmation of these details is still lacking.

We humbly seek the protection of God and ask for your prayers.

UPDATE 2: Multiple reports on social media say Ammon Bundy was arrested in John Day, Oregon. NOT Burns or the refuge.

UPDATE 3: Several outlets are now reporting the incident occurred during a traffic stop.

Information is trickling in now and only a few details are known. What we do know, according to early reports, is that media has been alerted that a possible shootout has occurred at the refuge in Burns, OR (UPDATE: POSSIBLE LAW ENFORCEMENT ENCOUNTER HAPPENED IN JOHN DAY, OREGON). Several reporters attempted to reach the refuge but encountered a roadblock with officers in tactical gear.

The roadblock forces were also holding AR-15 rifles in ready position and have taken control over the entire area.

There are also reports the hospital in Burns is on complete lockdown.

KMTR says multiple arrests have been made and protest leader Ammon Bundy is in custody.

This report will be constantly updated as we learn more about what happened. Stay tuned for more!

HARNEY COUNTY, Ore. — One person is dead and several others, including Oregon occupation leader Ammon Bundy, were detained following a confrontation with the FBI and state police Tuesday night.

It all began with a traffic stop while Bundy and some of his followers were en route to a community meeting in John Day, about 70 miles away.

Shots were fired after FBI agents, Oregon State troopers and other law enforcement agencies made the stop.

Ammon Bundy, Ryan Bundy, Brian Cavalier, Shawna Cox and Ryan W. Payne were arrested during the stop.

They're all facing federal felony charges of conspiracy to impede officers of the US from discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation or threats.

One person, who was the subject of a federal probable cause arrest died. It's unclear who fired first.

The arrests come on the heels of the 25th day of the refuge occupation.

Bundy and about three dozen of other individuals occupied the wildlife refuge earlier this month after two local ranchers, the Hammonds, were sent to prison for setting fires on federal land.

The Hammonds served no more than a year until an appeals court judge ruled that the terms fell short of minimum sentences requiring them to serve about four more years.

Ammon Bundy said he prayed about the matter and "clearly understood that the Lord was not pleased with what was happening to the Hammonds."

Bundy told KATU News last weekend his group had no intention of using their weapons, "but we have them, and we're willing to stand with them in our own defense as we exercise our rights, and as we restore our rights back to our brothers and sisters."

KATU News spoke with Harney County Judge Steven Grasty last weekend, who expressed his worry regarding the situation.

"Somebody will do something stupid," Grasty said. "If it goes south, it'll go south because Mr. Bundy or his friends started something."

Gov. Kate Brown had repeatedly asked for assistance from federal authorities regarding the occupation.

Several men were arrested for various traffic infractions during the occupation, but none of them were directly related to the refuge occupation.

The Ecoterrorists have been leaning pretty heavily on Brown to do their bidding since they put her in to power last year by ousting Khitz. They are on local media in some form everyday demanding they be allowed to see the damn ducks. IMO, this was planned at the behest of Brown.

So thats it huh? Bummer. I was interested to see how all this would play out. I figured they would just snag them up one by one once they disbanded.

I can understand the shots fired due to their mentality of being released its hand, which you do have the right to defend your life with by any means necessary, however I think by taking over federal land ultimately the laws not going to side with them anyway.

Lots of false flag stuff going on around there.. The media did a great job of the belittling their efforts & making them all seem crazy, but seriously we saw what happened elsewhere and how well organized they were something just doesn't seem right here.

I still hate the fact that they were more demonize than those "hands up dont shoot" thugs doing all the rioting and looting.. Shows you that the media really is in the progressives & big governments pocket.

The comments of the liberal political trash oregon has is disgusting.
They have been pushing an end by any means necessary since the beginning because this liberal state has been the black mark on the liberal stage of this country since this started.

Sad. They let the wall street protesters destroy portland parks for months, let BLM and hands up don't shoot garbage interfere with traffic, bridges, and commuter traffic all the time, but these guys in the middle of nowhere are demonized because they believe in the constitution and have weapons.

Sad day in America

One way to lessen the chances of someone taking a stand at a particular ranch in Arizona would be to execute that Arizona rancher. It's weird that they didn't make sure all of the witnesses were dead, yet.

Ahhh those Oregon socialists are about as tolerant of the opposing viewpoint is the "religion of peace" is tolerant of others. You knew they would kill someone the first chance the feds got, just like every other incident of this type.

It's a lot easier to kill one as a warning and claim the others are lying to drum up anti-govt support than kill them all. If they killed all of them there would have been more outrage.

Don't be so sure of an outrage, remember what happened in Waco last May? 9 dead Americans killed outside a restaurant that they were legally occupying. I didn't really see this ending a different way, I guess I'm glad there is only one dead? Have to wait and see what the official narrative is going to be.

Eyewitness account here. Sounds like what finnicum would've done in the situation.
Sounds like the FBI or whoever was on scene was a little jumpy. They then shot up the vehicle(s) in order to prevent what they thought would be retaliation by the victims friends and family.. Also pretty convenient to get rid of as many witnesses as possible, guess the whole plan didnt work.

first the Idaho rancher is killed by the cops and now Finnicum looks to have been killed by the federal cops. and the MSM is doing a fantastic job at spinning both situations. SMH.

The complete and total lack of interest by the MSM (even allowing for their usual lickspittle support of the criminal political class) is beyond the norm.
Did ANY mainstreamers even attempt to interview ANY of the protesters or their leaders or visit the Park like they did with the OWS occupations?

The MSM cowards are responsible for allowing the Feds free reign to trample the Constitution and even execute rural land owners by turning a blind eye to what was really happening and what is really going on with the BLM et al. They can't even get the reason for the protests straight in most of their reporting.

When the watchdog is sleeping with the very people it is supposed to be watching, the Gov. is emboldened. If the media was doing it's job and shining a light on what the BLM was/is doing to rural landowners much of what is happening may have been prevented.
