My son lives in Texas and his neighbors dog was killing his chickens. He called the guy and told him what was going on and the guy said that if the dog tries it again to just shoot him. The dog came for another meal so my son shot him, tied a rope to the dog and dragged it down the road to the neighbors access road and left it there. He and the neighbor are still good friends, that's how it's done in Texas.
In Greece they tie it to their chariot and scream "Hector!" just to flex on the foo.

Being raised in Portland, I didn't know about what happens when city folk move out to the country and let their dogs roam free.
My first experience was when I was living near Estacada, OR. and early one morning while driving to work, a flatbed truck in front of me slammed on it's brakes and an old farmer jumped out of the cab with a 30/30 lever action rifle.
He jumped the roadside ditch and proceeded to take aim on a German Sheppard trotting down from a pasture above the road. I watched as he shot the dog dead from 100' away.
The farmer calmly put the rifle back in his truck and asked me if I would help him drag the dead dog out of the pasture and hang him up by his collar on the barb wire metal tee post.
I was a little bit stunned by the quickness of his actions, but told him I would, and when we got to the dog, there was a half chewed up new born calf leg in it's mouth.
He told me that the pasture was his neighbors cattle field and he had been asked to keep a lookout for any coyotes or any other critters killing his livestock.
The farmer made a cardboard sign stating that this dog was a livestock killer and hung it around his neck.
I found out later a couple from California had bought the farm on the other side of the road and let their dog roam free.
I'm conflicted on which side I support in this story.
I was on the phone with my daughter when she says, "hold on" and sets the phone down.
After what seemed to be a minute, she gets back on and says, "one of the neighbors dogs was making a bee-line for my goats, so I shot him." The neighbor has >20 dogs that are little more than feral, and currently have a nasty mange infestation.
I asked, "With the shotgun, or the 10/22?" She said the pellet rifle that I had given them on my last visit, a Ruger 22 cal springer. She said, "it made a huge THWAK and the dog turned and ran, yelping all the way."
I said, "you know, that can kill a dog" and her reply was, "well , if it doesn't kill him, it'll learn him to not come onto my farm." Months later, it hs not returned.

I've come to find out asking "serious" questions on any level on this forum is a complete waste of the users time. Everyone just wants to be a troll and act like a 13 year old girl on Facebook. Why I rarely visit this site anymore. Lame that you can't find a decent crowd anywhere these days. 😅😂

I like to behave more like a 12 year old girl, thanks.

We put our dogs inside a GPS controlled fence. It would have been too exspensive to completely fence our four acres. It has worked exceedingly well. They have the run of our property and it has taught them the boundaries. It was a 4k$ investment but it keeps our dogs on our property and out of the roads. My dogs are family and they get treated accordingly.

Gosh, I can hear the stamping of your little feets and bottom lip quiver from here.

I think it's a pretty good mix of humorous and serious answers here.

It's all offset since you're taking everything seriously enough for about 10 of us.

Most people consider BB guns as more toys or animal training devices than real firearms.
This is debatable and I dont know anyone who thinks they are animal training devices. A BB gun is considered lethal force when used criminally, like shooting your neighbors dog.

Was that a twisted knicker that just ran through?
