The dog ate a calf. Why is there any question? I would have done the same thing. Matter of fact, years ago, I did. Neighbors dog was running the calves on a ranch I worked on so the neighbor learned why you need to keep track of your dogs. It was not easy to do, I love dogs, but it needed done.
Because it was someone's pet? I wouldn't be happy if someone shot my pet. I also wouldn't be happy if someone's dog killed my livestock. I can see both sides, hence why I'm conflicted. Also, hanging the dead dog like a trophy seems a little excessive though I'm sure the point was made.

Pets are controlled. Not allowed to hunt their neighbors livestock like a wild wolf. If they cared about their pet they would have him under control. The dog paid the price of bad owners that can't control their dog and damaged the farmer's livelihood.

Yes. I get it. I'll just hang the neighbor kids from my porch next time the pull up my tulips

My neighbor shot me in the bum with a pump up pellet rifle when I was a kid. I never thought of pressing felony charges. I wonder what the statutes of limitations are. His friends were laughing, so maybe I can get them too. Yes it left a mark.
You think my brothers going to come after me for shooting him with a BB gun? It was a good shot . Moving target at 40 yards. Hes still got the BB....in his leg.

My grandpa (my mom's dad) was shot and blinded in one eye with a BB gun as a kid. That didn't stop him from giving my Uncles 22s as young kids. They rode around on their bikes with those rifles. One time they got busted for shooting some sheep. Bend was a different town back then.

Dang, couldn't even sweet talk some sheep!

It's tough, but there's no going back once that particular switch gets flipped.
Cat killing dogs are the same way.

Ok but we're all missing the point here. When do I get to hang the little shjts from my porch? Those tulips weren't free, ya know

And they could be worth a fortune (again) one of these days.

Amsterdam flower market in 1634 and reached its peak in 1637, when some of the most sought-after bulbs, like the Switzer, increased in price by 12-fold. At its height, the rarest tulip bulbs could sell for as much as six times the average person's annual salary, and some bulbs changed hands more than 10 times in a single day. The obsession with tulip bulbs became

My neighbor shot at my docile hunting dogs with his BB gun last Sunday, before my dogs had left my property, and was pulling the trigger with me in his line of fire. I've filed a report with the Sheriff. He might be charged with a felony by the DA and lose his Second Amendment Rights as a result. Does anyone know if the other three adults who were present and didn't try to stop him can be charged as accessories to this felony?
Well for one I hope they HANG him by his balls.
Now as for the rest like any legal question you may get answers that are all over the place and will really mean nothing. All that will matter is what some DA and black robe thinks. I do hope they nail the asshat.

Saw this news today odfw offering $2000 reward for person who killed deer with pellet gun. Another article I saw on it said the neighbors routinely shoot them with pellet guns to drive them away. Seems like someone got overzealous? Indontnkjow much about it only the 2 articles.

While I understand the people trying to scare the critters off they are picking a over the top stupid way to do it. Hope they pay the price. There are several safe, harmless ways to run the critters off.

I LOVE dogs and this is why I have a few times gone very angry at morons who let them run free and get in trouble. I DO NOT want to have to hurt a dog just because the owner is a moron. Sadly some times it happens. Its sad when the dog has to pay the price for the human who is an idiot.

My son lives in Texas and his neighbors dog was killing his chickens. He called the guy and told him what was going on and the guy said that if the dog tries it again to just shoot him. The dog came for another meal so my son shot him, tied a rope to the dog and dragged it down the road to the neighbors access road and left it there. He and the neighbor are still good friends, that's how it's done in Texas.

If your neighbor wants to kill your dogs all he needs to do is put some strychnine-containing rodent poison in chunks of burger and toss it in your yard. You will never be able to prove who poisoned your dogs. Dogs get poisoned frequently. Your dogs live each day only by your neighbor's permission, tolerance, and good will. You would do well to remember that.

I suggest you drop the charges, apologize to your neighbor for letting your dogs trespass on his property, and build a fence so your dogs stay on your own property when you let them out to relieve themselves. And leash your dogs when coming or going if you don't have good enough off leash control to keep them from trespassing onto property of neighbors.

Most people consider BB guns as more toys or animal training devices than real firearms. Apparently your neighbor only shot in the direction of your dogs. Whether you were in the line of fire will just be your word vs his word and that of the three witnesses, all his friends. The value of a dog in the eyes of the law is usually only what you paid for it as a pup unless it has various championships with documentable value. Your love for the dogs or the time you spent training them, if any, doesnt count. At best your neighbor will likely get only a misdemeanor charge if that. Especially since the neighbor and his three witnesses will probably say the dogs were on his property.
