Perhaps I worded this post poorly.

What I meant is, can you still drive up past the ATV area and find a safe location to target practice. I haven't been there in decades and was not sure if it is still legal to shoot recreationally at shotgun creek.

As of a decade ago there was a small dedicated range area. Haven't been there lately so unsure of current status.

I've spent time shooting up at Shotgun Creek in the past. I look for dead end landings with good backdrops far up the road, away from most of the ATV traffic. That area gets lots of hunting traffic as well.
