Hey all. I'm thinking of getting my Armed Guard Card and was wondering what would be a good affordable option for a service gun. Would like to keep it the caliber fairly standard for today's service guns for what Leo's use.

Seems like Glock is the go to. Of Glock even if not a Leo trade in which model?? I don't know really anything of Glock besides what gen they're on. Which I think is 4???

Others will tell you the best option that works for them but the best advise is to find one that works best for you. My personal choice is Smith & Wesson and Springfield in 40S&W, 10mm and 45ACP, but you have other options available to you like Ruger, Berretta, Colt, Kimber, Kel Tec and several others. I myself avoid Glocks as the handles are uncomfortable for me to use which degrades my useability of the firearm in a life or death situation.

If you want to CC off duty with the same gun get a G19 Gen 5, if not go with a G45. The big decision is whether you settle for the MOS or be patient and eat the cost of a direct cut. I'd tend to go with the latter.
I'm not sure what's meant by MOS (sights related???) or direct cut.

FYI…
You'd want G19 or may G49 to utilize those mags

The grip angle on Glocks is totally different than most other service pistols, and many, including me, can't stand it. Try a few pistols out. Walther PDP, CZ P-07, M&P, Sig P226.

For a new gun, I can no longer justify a G17 now that we have the G47, I just wish they would do a non-MOS model.
It's not about your justification. Wasn't this thread about a rent a cop getting a piece ? Moral of the story is get a Glock.🤣
