And excuse me if I'm getting frustrated. Trying to defend an offhand comment about that. You're not doing yourselves any favors. You really think ad hominem attacks against me or trying to poke holes in my story is going to change the fact that if you scare the people who are voters for no reason, then you're going to lose your rights. Don't flaunt them. Use them properly. Yes I've got the right to go show off anything I want anywhere I want anytime I want but if it's like trying to trying to show off p**** in a gay bar oh then what's the point?

I see your Gravy Seals and raise you some Navy Seals ...... ;)

Just tossing out some things to consider....

The world is as it is....
And not as how it should be or as we wish it to be.

We have the Right to keep and bear Arms.
How that is done....matters.
It matters mostly to ourselves....However...
Perception , as in what others think , also matters.

When keeping and bearing Arms , you , rightly or wrongly , represent all firearm owners.
What you do , will shape other's opinions , not just on you...but on all firearm owners.

Do you or should you , need or have to provide a reason to openly carry a firearm ...?
I say no.
However...
When doing so....you should also expect some questioning or concern over your actions.
Not saying that this sort of thing is 'right" ...or "fair"....
Just saying that with the world and how it is...it will happen.

Getting back to perception...
What folks think and feel....play a large role in how they view what is going on around them....and how they react to it.
What you think and feel about something that you are saying or doing...may be "right" or correct...
However...how you are perceived may be something else all together.
Perception can also lead to assuming...which can make for some mistakes in figuring out what is actually happening or being said , etc...

Also...
Just who are you to judge others and their actions...?
Not saying this to anyone in particular.
Just asking as a general question.
Do you like to be judged for what you say and do...?
Have things assumed about you....?
it is wise to be careful to not judge or assume things about someone or something , when viewing an event or person , etc.....

Now with all that said...
Do I think that it is a good idea to go to the local grocery store with my AR15 slung and carrying all sorts of gear with it...?
No , I do not .

Doing so will cause a fuss...more than likely to make the news....No doubt a conversation with law enforcement...
And yes , even make gun owners look bad , dangerous , insert whatever negative adjective you wish ...
All of the above would probably happen if I did so where I live.
Situation and circumstances matter and make a difference....as well as being different.

With all that said...
It is my Right to do so , if I wish.
However...
With great rights comes great responsibility .
As in it may be my Right...but it is also my responsibility to exercise it with care and understanding.

Sorry for the long read.
Andy

Again, indecent exposure is illegal, open carry is not.

So a trans person couldn't show you. They were trans by like using their male voice and saying hey I'm trans or I used to be a woman or I used to be a man or something. They've got to expose themselves for you to get triggered. Yeah, you're already triggered

In Oregon, public nudity is generally legal unless it is done with the intent to arouse sexual desire. Oregon law focuses on the intent behind the nudity rather than the nudity itself. Public indecency laws require proof of intent to arouse, meaning that simply being naked in public is not a crime unless it is intended to be sexually suggestive or provocative.

My Captain always said just being naked is not against the law that you've got to be sexually provocative you've got to like have a hard on and be waving it at people and making sexual comments or performing simulated sexual acts on a tree or a car or something. Just being naked is not against the law. It comes to intent which is what I was asking about. The people carrying the freaking assault rifles around in the store intent. I'm sorry I'm used to people potentially shooting at me and I have just a few minutes to try to figure out what their intent might be. I'm sorry I'm retired but it's still in my head

So what if they had been naked walking around Fred Meyers it is their right. Do you still think I would have been wrong to ask them why they were doing so? Wouldn't you be curious? Oh, they would make me crazy. Wondering why these people were wandering around the store naked but whatever

And as far as if you don't exercise your rights, you lose it. Were they not already exercising their right by carrying four pistols? Was I not exercising that same right by carrying a pistol?

Once again definitions matter .....

"The people carrying the freaking assault rifles around in the store" .

Assuming the firearms to be automatic fire is what makes normal people confused especially coming from police , former police and politicians/ leaders that are being biased & not being truthful in facts . That is where the term Fudd came from . Modern Sporting Rifle is the correct term .

And so I'm considered to be anti-second amendment because I'm old and I use old terms that I was taught. You don't know it was semi-automatic. My assumption is always that it is fully automatic until proven otherwise, to think otherwise is folly

Never underestimate a potential adversary and never assume that it's benign

Multiple posts one after another because the thought cant wait to be finished before hitting that post button. We're up to five in a row now, see above 265-69 maybe more while I am typing........

Quoting oneself multiple times and multiple times within a post to argue further, sometimes with self.

Multiple posts that take more than one time reading to try to understand but still come across as unintelligible.

Untold times disparaging remarks (gravy seals, etc.) to paint someone doing something within their legal right as less of a person.

Untold contradictory statements.

I could go on, but I'll just leave this here.........:s0097:

Excuse me, it's my first day out to sea in a while and it's kind of rough out here and my finger hits the f****** button in at inopportune times - I'm sailing South down the coast to get my engine rebuilt in San Francisco. I'm already in Commieforna Waters. And I'm quite frustrated to keep trying to defend an offhand comment. All I said was you're not doing yourself any favors by doing it this way. Geez why do I have to keep defending that?

Leave me alone and I'll shut up. I didn't want part of this conversation anyway. I was just making a point that you guys are not helping yourself. If you want to keep the right then don't scare people with it just because you can

There's the problem. Not everyone is a potential adversary. Not everyone with a gun is a potential adversary.

As to assuming every AR is automatic.. there's 8 million M16s of M16, M16A1, M16A2, M16A4 models including the CAR-15 variants and USAF GUU-5/GAU-5s, and 500,000 M4 Carbines.. against a minimum of 20, 24 million AR-15s estimated to be in the US. The vast majority of the M16s and M4s are in military depots, both US and in foreign service (see Israel, Mexico to South America, middle East, etc).

Also, ATF says only 175,000 registered transferable machine guns, most of which aren't AR based .

Automatic ARs are a very very small percentage of ARs in circulation..

It goes back to assuming & proving intent .....

I've told liberal people
the analogy of every man is equipped to be a rapist and every woman equipped to be a hooker but that doesn't make them so does it . Once again the majority of gun owners are normal and not the exception . Same as every driver is not driving drunk except for the minority of ones that are .

You're getting frustrated because you're the guy who is always right and insists on being the authority figure, but the rest of us aren't feeding your ego.

Give everyone a break and take a few breaths. Tell us what you did to fight against 243 instead of just arguing for arguments sake.
