I picked this up years ago when I still had my shop. The idea was to rebuild it for my son. But my f.i.l. just gave him a nice takedown Model 99 in .250 Savage. So this is now expendable, and it's taking up space in the safe.

This is a Savage Model 1899 rifle in .30-30. The serial number dates it to 1902. So it's 117 years old this year. It needs a new buttstock (treebone carving has them if you ask). The barrel has visible lands and grooves, but also has a good bit of pitting. The metal is 117 years old, and accordingly has no finish, just patina. With a buttstock and a good barrel scrubbing, I'd still shoot it. But it is being sold (and priced) as a project. The good thing is it's a solid, non drilled and tapped action with all the internal parts to build or rebuild a heck of a rifle.

Also possible, albeit not for sure, that I have a crescent rifle buttplate somewhere as well. If I find it in the parts bins or shop, it will go as well...

I am asking $450 o.b.o. I am pretty open to trades. My tastes lend themselves towards milsurp rifles, parts, and pieces. I have no use for pistols at the moment. No use for shotguns or modern rifles at the moment either. Never hurts to ask if you have something in mind.
