Selling this sad example of a S&W revolver.
Badly pitted, but the bore looks good and shiny-Probably sat in a holster for many years:(:(:(:(:(
The cylinder can be replaced and it would look "better"
It does function, and is pretty accurate, but the timing is a bit off.

Serial number is 54XXX
.38 Special
6.5 inch barrel
I believe it is an M & P Model of 1902
Has real Mother of Pearl grips (stocks)

Use it as is for the ultimate "I dont care" truck gun, shorten it,cerakote it,whatever?

Not quite old enough to be an antique so the transfer fee is on YOU.

$125 cash or trade for-
762 AK magazines
762x39 ammo
WW2 fighting knives
Quality auto knives

If this is an M&P Model of 1902 it is Qualified for C&R as it would have been made in 1904. The Barrel should be marked ".38 S&W Special CTG & U.S. Service CTG". And this would be called The 1st Change. You may want to re-measure the Barrel because it should be a 6-1/2" and not a 6". That's not an absolute but a 6" tube would be unusual.:):):)

Hope that helps.

I appreciate your expertise- I couldnt remember my research from before.
It IS a 6 1/2 inch barrel, thank you for the info.
And thats why I put it in the "C&R" section-
By "Not quite old enough to be an antique so the transfer fee is on YOU." I meant its post 1898,so it does need SOME kind of transfer,be it private party or C&R holder.
And in Oregon,a C&R no longer means anything anyway,so theres that:(
