Don't know if Ruger "modified" it, but if it a standard ar lower, piece of cake. Curt's Discount guns can knock that out in a few minutes, and if you buy the parts from them, probably do it for free.

without looking to be sure I can't guarantee they didn't modify anything, however, most "CA legal" ARs have a bullet button installed in place of the normal mag release - should be a simple removal of existing and replace with standard mag release.
