Scaled down 30-06. Typical Remington blundering. Started as 280 Rem. Then they renamed it 7mm-06. Then they renamed it 7mm express. Then they went back to calling it 280 Rem. Like you say, an excellent cartridge, but it never got traction due to Remington's marketing buffoonery. Whoever gets this one will get a gem, with ammo and brass to boot.
