They are exactly the same except for the side length but I know what you mean. My edc is two Glock 48s

Yes, but I see no advantage over a short barrel and longer grip. If I wanted a short barrel I would get a 43.

Yes sir. I prefer the longer barrel as well. I'm a huge Glock fanboy but I wouldn't carry a 43 these days. I have one if you're interested though, Or Maybe a
Sig p365. Shield plus
