Nice I am Jealous! I just got the SR9 (first gun!) Its awesome was thinking bout the LC9 but figured cant go wrong with full size especially during a election year lol (hope no upcoming MagCap Ban!!) Definatly planning to pick of those up! (when i can afford it lol) Cant go wrong with a ruger plus 9mm in tiny pocket pistol its NO wonder they were 2011 Gun of the Year!
I have the SR9C and it is my favorite pistol. Even with 10rd+flat plate it's kinda big to carry concealed. I'd like to find a better conceal holster for it though.
I had and carried a Ruger LC9.
My Opinion on...
Pros:
- mine was ultra reliable. It cycled everything I fed it flawlessly, including some garbage that I put through, just to test it.
- effortless concealment
- great ergonomics for a single stack 9, subcompact
Cons:
- I hate that (goshdarn) trigger.
I want to add that I had a bit of a revelation with the LC9 and a Kel Tec PF-9. I realized that accuracy was not as easy as I wanted it to be at the range. Given that, I had to face the fact that drawing it, moving, and accurately putting shots on target with a single handed grip was highly unlikely.
In my opinion, it is advisable to carry the most duty-capable firearm that you can carry on a 100% basis. This distinction is in contrast with the current trend of "buy the tiniest .380, .38 spl, or 9mm I can find". When I started pushing toward carrying something larger, instead of looking only at subs, I discovered that I have no problem at all carrying a Ruger SR9c. The SR9c gets me 10+1 or 17+1, a 17 round back up magazine, effortless accuracy, substantially improved controlability, and a firearm that I can control and operate with 1 hand, on the move.
Your views and experience with the LC9 may differ. I certainly respect that. Ultimately, each of us should carry the weapon that works best for us.
