Ruger HM2/HMR Conversions

A friend has gotten bit by the 17 cal bug. He wants a HMR, but also was looking at the Mach 2. He would like to convert his 77/22 to HM2, but is having problems finding a sporter barrel.

Any recommendations on a drop-in?

I'd steer clear of the HM2. Its a tough round to find ammo for and more and more retailers are dropping it completely. Five more years and it will be a forgotten cartridge.

That is true! Unfortunately, as soon as I posted I found the following website. It's a good read and helps shed some light on why the Mach2 ammo showed up recently.
