Well you could cut it to the length of the storage slot in the grip with diagonal cutters then finish the ends with sand paper and touch it up with a birchwood-casy blueing pen.

I typically use a punch out of my tools of appropriate diameter, but a nail as Mike suggested or anything of similar size and strength should work fine.
 
Noticed mine came with a spare pin in the box, unfortunately i don't have either handy to measure for you :(
 
Traps the hammer spring so you can disassemble. It doesn't require anything fancy, a dern paper clip, safety pin, or a small punch will all work. Heck, a toothpick would probably work, but a laser engraved and micro multicamo CeraKoted finishing nail with ends turned off in a pleasing symmetry sounds like the way forward.
