I was doing some research for my nephew re:Rem783,
I wasn't impressed with the quality, and steered him toward the Ruger American line.
The price difference isn't very big, same with the Savage line, for the same money the Ruger seems to be the better rifle. I suggested he rent one if possible.
You might do the same thing if you have a gun club that has rentals nearby.
