Years ago a company made a nice pull out drawer type safe, mine has been under the front seat of a couple of vehicles so far. I'd provide a link but it was discontinued 20 years ago

The center console safes are probably some of the most secure and convenient safes if you're willing to spend a little money. Console Vault, Tuffy, Locker Down all make them but I don't know if they have a model for the Corolla so you'll have to look.

If you decide to go with something else, consider whether you want one that is big enough to hold a holstered weapon. The less you have to take the gun out of the holster and expose the trigger, the better. But I realize space may be at a premium in a smaller car like the Corolla.

Those head rest replacements another poster put up look VERY interesting to me. If your car has a trunk what I have done several times is put a gun box there that is bolted down. If possible hidden enough its not easily seen. Another is to of course use some kind of box under the seat that is secured. Yes they can be defeated but at least if some scum smashed out a window and has no tools they are going to leave without the gun. There is always a LOT of hate along this idea. So you have to make your own choice as to what risk you want to take here. I do keep guns this way. Others will not. Next of course is make sure the gun you do this with is not something that would be a major deal to have stolen. Also of course use care in putting the gun away that someone is not seeing you do it. A lot of people seem to have zero situational awareness. So of course try not to advertise you are putting the gun there whoever you keep it.

When I had my BMW I3, the under seat floor space was nearly non existant, so I ended up canning the under seat lock box. Plus, with that cable, it may or may not slide around depending on floor space, etc. Like any security, it's a trade-off with security and ease of access. With all the car break ins in this God forsaken place, I'm quite hesitant to leave anything in my car anymore, even change in the cup holder. Never underestimate the power of a tweaker as one local PD officer told me.

The smaller Vaultek box will fit under the seat of small compact cars.
The downside is it isnt big enough to leave the gun in most holsters, possible with som aiwb holsters.

I saw a late model Denali 2500 broken into (downtown spokane, park mobile lot) that the truck bed cover was open and tail gate open with all the victims luggage open and went through. Imagine being this person returning to your truck and seeing all that. Sad.

I've had a Gunbunker GS-1 for years. Designed to slide under a vehicle seat, heavy duty construction, and comes with a cable to secure it to the seat bracket. Fits a single pistol (Glock 19-size according to sales info; my M&P Shield fits nicely).

I've had cars broken into, and stolen, so naturally it makes me more paranoid about leaving anything in my cars. Do miss the "good ol days" where people respected your property, could leave doors unlocked, neighbors knew everyone etc. I'd be all for having a car safe that can be bolted in and out of sight from looky loos, to minimize it being simply taken away after cutting a cable etc.

There are little gun safes that tether to the seat. I prefer simplex locks due to how quickly I can access it without dealing with electronics. There are also console safes.
