Friend has one he is considering selling. I have books, and have looked at Broker, etc. (We're seeing selling prices 6-900 (all over the map). Seeking info from Smith guys here, or recent purchasers. It does have a Leupold silver 2x with the mounts, but I advised him he may get little additional, and should put the sights back on and sell the scope unto itself. This is the standard 629, no under rib, no "sporty" name (Pro Hunter, etc.).

Thanks for any "hands-on" info that can narrow this down. (Modern handguns are not my arena of expertise.)

I would snag it, but I'm not fond of .44, and have a monster scoped Dan Wesson already.

My scoped, nickel 57 (.41) fills the niche better than both.

As always its going to come down to how much is he willing to take and how bad does he want to sell it. If no hurry? Set the price at the high end of what you see them selling for and see what offers are made. There is no hard and fast rule here. Have him throw it up on the classifieds here and see how much interest he gets .

Might be more of a local situation, but this has been one of the worst summers for selling guns in a decade.
Trading out of it might pan out , but cash sale will be on the low end.

I paid $700 for a 6-inch version of recent vintage and felt like that was a fair price. It came with a couple of boxes of ammo as well. I have no idea what the scope and mounts might be worth.

If it's pre-Hillary hole, it might/should bring a little more. Doesn't make that much difference to me, but I've seen a lot of comments on the forum that make me think I'm in the minority on that one.
