09-28-2025 Fire Alert!
Forest fire in the Southern Oregon / Northern California borderline. Last report was a Level 3 evacuation. Even this is quite a distance from Portland, you will never know. There is minimal to no access on that area and it will be very difficult to stop that fire besides spreading quickly depending on the weather conditions. This is quite close to Gold Beach which is always windy. I can smell it here now in Sherwood.

I think I saw this fire Friday from about 32,000 ft. I flew in and out of Medford Friday and snapped a couple pictures.

Thankfully we have rain starting tonight and lasting for a couple days.
Glad to see that.

We have had at least one day of at least a bit of rain each month this summer, whereas previous summers we have had summers where there was no measurable rain for at least three months and it was very dry until October (usually late October) - which had me worried because of hunting season often has some idiot making a camp fire.

I remember the summers here when I was a kid - it was a 50/50 bet for the weekends and the holidays (including the 4th) as to whether there would be nice weather or it would rain.
