Preferred Defensive Loads?

What load (caliber & bullet type) do you prefer to carry in your EDC, and why?

Another Speer Gold Dot fan here...

.40 S&W in 165 gr HP and/or .40 S&W in 180 gr HP for short barrel
9 mm Luger in 124 gr HP for short barrel

I like Speer Gold Dots cuz they never jam, FTE, or stovepipe, and my long-time trainer (retired KPD SWAT) swears by them.

As I understand it, that's what local LE is using. Rather not have to have my ammo choice scrutinized by a jury on what would already be a bubblegumty day.

Hornady Critical Defense 44 special for 44 revolvers and lever gun

Hornady Critical Defense OR Remington HTP for .357 revolvers

DoubleTap hard cast 10mm for bear

Speer Gold Dot for .308

Dang near any load I want in the 45-70s

Not quite EDC but I do carry a 45 Colt Smith 25 fairly often with Cor-Bon 45C200 +P. Not worried about printing.

I carry 9mm 124gr Sig V-Crown, but after I run through it all, I will switch to either 147gr Speer Gold Dot or Federal HST.

9mm 124 gr and 147gr JHPs. Lately I have been running the Sig Elite V Crown which is consistently good. Hornady Critical Duty is wonderful ammo but pricing has been higher than the Sig Elite Crown.

.40 S&W, Federal HST 180gr. My first civilian owned pistol was a Gen3 Glock27 I got back in 2010. I just kept getting .40 ever since.

Ditto this and they are some of them most accurate bullets I have ever loaded with!

I used to use them exclusively and only stopped because they were getting spendy for just plinking ammo so I started using cheaper bulk, plated bullets but still keep some around for defense/hunting rounds.
