I ordinarily carry 9mm FMJ, target, out of convenience, but after that detroit tailgating shooting of two people with just one bullet, one being a bystander, I am going to pick up some boxes of hollow points, and dedicate one magazine to defensive rounds.

I got some of these on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse a few weeks ago. Read some pretty good reviews on them. Run great in my Glock 48 and 19. Haven't run them over the chronograph yet but others have and they run close to advertised velocity.

230gr Winchester Black Talon in my Colt Officers model 45acp.

I know, Winchester hasn't made this in over 20 years but I still have a case and a half left from when our local gun store closed down. I shot a magazine full last time at the range to make sure it still went bang. yep, just like it's supposed too.

Winchester changed the black talon to Winchester SXT and took off the black Lubalox. I ordered the Winchester SXT rounds years ago and shot them up over time.

9mm (or similar like 380, 45acp around that ball park) gold dots or whatever flavor of the week the FBI is using
Hydro Shok 135 grain in 9mm. Originally used in suppressed sub guns and tactical carry.
Hard to find locally these days. You will need to find a dealer to order it.

Sellier & bellot 50 grain FMJ 25 ACP for my baby browning.

For one, hollowpoints do basically nothing in 25, and two, they can destroy the frame on the baby browning specifically. Unsure how many other mouse guns have the problem. But in general if there's a cartridge the gun is designed around that's what I'd want to put through it and for the baby browning it is the classic 50 grain FMJ 25 load, which s&b produces and it runs perfect.

But I'm a little extreme with my Turkish mp5 since it eats anything but I still buy NATO spec 9mm when I can. And who makes the cheapest NATO spec 9mm?...MKE, the same company that made my gun 😅 makes me look like a bit of a tool.

In theory the roller delayed stuff is sensitive to ammo, the things are just too well built for that to matter it seems.

The underwood 9mm 115gr out of a 3.1" barrel makes 500fpe, making the same power as the underwood .357 sig 115gr out of a 3.5".
From a 5" barrel the 9mm should easily make 550fpe per trigger press.
The 10-11" penetration of the 9mm in this test is essentially the same as the legendary number one stopper, the 125gr SJHP .357 magnum fired from a 4" revolver so I wouldn't mealy mouth it much on that count.

I run Corbon Pow'RBall in all of my carry handguns. Feeds like FMJ and functions like a hollow point. I have put down several injured deer with .380 or 9mm with a single round.

What load (caliber & bullet type) do you prefer to carry in your EDC, and why?
Everyone will have their own preferences based upon their understanding (or lack there of) I use either Winchester ranger 147g 9mm or Federal HST 147g 9mm. They both cycle reliably through all of my guns, they both have excellent expansion properties, and enough mass at 147g to achieve outstanding penetration depth and "stopping power"
