Not even remotely. Think more "I'm on a mission from God." 😉

Does your cruiser have S.C.M.O.D.S. ?

So to make it on $10 a day I would have to find a hobby that provides a second income.
I have always found ways to make enough to fund my shooting habit.
I pickup and sell reloading brass, cast and sell lead bullets, I sell lead ingots for others to cast bullets, I make feed troughs for livestock, I hand carve wooden walking sticks and canes, etc...
And it fills a day! Good Luck DR

I think you're over-thinking it. You won't know what it will be like until you know. I retired 9 years ago and I was very nervous about it. Did I save enough? Did I do the right things? Will I have to live like a pauper? Go back to work part-time.

The first month, I was very cautious. Then I began to relax and enjoy life. Some days I did nothing. Some days I wondered why I was so busy.

My suggestion is to not plan the first month. Wake up the morning of your first day and watch the news. Sit there with you cup of coffee and laugh at the traffic reports. The go forward from there. Retirement has been great!!

I'm surprised you didn't schedule at least one hour to brainstorm cockamamie ideas for posting on NWFA the next morning. Squirrel Power!

My retirement will be closer in theory to @CountryGent 's -- I'll be on a spiritual quest - one that doesn't allow for idle time. When I sit on my arse all day, I find I feel awful by the end of the day.

Lucky for you and the gang, that occurs 24/7/365.

I am not expecting to maintain my hobbies with that $10 a day. I would like it to cover eating out, groceries, fuel and personal care. Hobbies will be prepaid, funded with auxiliary income or not pursued.

Yesterday went pretty well except for a big fail at nap time. I ended up spending the almost three hours nap time here on NWFA. The plus side of missing my nap is that I negotiated a deal on some reloading consumables.

Today will be a repeat of yesterday and I may spend nap time working on reorganization of my safe space. I have a few chores to do but will squeeze them in throughout the day.

I haven't spent any of my $10 bucks a day money yet but tomorrow the wife and I have a grocery shopping planned. It's dollar day at Franz bakery and Bimart has a great deal on tp. A few Grocery Outlet stops will be in the mix as well.

I am going to walk for most of my exercise today and maybe stop in the gym for a quick leg workout.

I looked forward to retirement, as I'm sure most of us do. Unfortunately, life can have a way if interrupting, if not completely altering, plans. By the time I was able to retire, things went pretty smooth for the first couple years, though a little altered from what I was wanting. While I enjoy what I have, of no small part because I have my wife to share it with, My retirement, due mainly to health, rather went from retirement, to put out to pasture. The worst of it for me, is the seeming unfair, that, at least for me the brain lags the physical deterioration; my mind seems like I'm 30, but my body screams foul play!

Day 2 went pretty well. It wasn't exactly to schedule (including nap time) but I got lots of stuff done. I spent zero money from my $10 a day budget again. Today we are going shopping, so I'll be spending some today.

Nap time isn't happening again. I may have to scrub that from my retirement routine.

I spent $29.47 between two grocery outlets and the Franz outlet store. My wife picked up the tab for the tp at Bimart and the third Grocery Outlet store.

I have a load of laundry to do and empty the dishwasher then it's time to relax.

My plan for dinner is to walk up to Wendy's and get the $1 Dave's single (Saturday only deal) and the 2 for $4 Jr bacon cheeseburger or chicken sandwiches. That will be another $5 or $10 depending if wife goes or not.

I think I may be able to get use to retirement after all.

That shiz is gonna get boring really fast.
It very much depends on the person. I've been retired for over 5 years now and I am not busy with hobbies/etc., I am not really bored. I do want to travel (maybe this coming winter I will go to Tahiti and/or NZ), but I've not been willing to spend the $ to do so - yet.

I spend much of my time on the internet, reading articles that interest me, checking in on forums/etc. that interest me, watch YT vids that interest me. That is about half my day during the summer, more in the winter. The key word is "interest". I do need to get outside more, and I do in the summer. But 99% of my time is spent at home just doing nothing much.

For 60 years I worked; as a pre-teen/teen that was summers on the farm working in the fields/etc., and as a mid-teen I worked in canneries/etc., then as an adult I worked to support myself and my family. Most of the time I was busy or resting from working. I had a few adventures.

I don't need to keep busy now. I don't need to get away from people or things because of where I live. The only thing I need to get away from is dreary winter weather here - hence my desire to go somewhere that the weather is nice from late fall to early spring, then return home for the nice weather here.
