The Day Before Christmas

Twas the day before Christmas.....I'm snug in my chair
A cry from the kitchen.....Y'd best come in here!!

I rise from my chair to see what's the matter.
Can't be too bad, I've heard nothing clatter

I ask where's the problem? What tragedies up
something minor's my thought, as I set down my cup

There's water Pat says, all under the sink.
The trash tub is full, right up to the brink

It's just what we need to spoil the day.
Company's coming, they're soon on their way

I take a quick look.....What I said wasn't nice.
Have to dig up the shut off...And it's buried for ice

A solder joints gone, It's torch time for sure
But the solder wont stick. All I've got's Resin Core

I'm soon off to Lowe's for a handful of fittings
No smile on my face with these Christmas misgivings

I find what I need with some help from a clerk.
I'm trying to be pleasant and not be a jerk

Then hurry on home and put things together.
Cross all my fingers and turn on the water.

No joy tonight my efforts for Zip.
But least for now it's down to a drip

On Christmas morn with a tube of Gum Pucky.
Re-tighten it all and maybe get lucky

I turn on the valve, ready to stop.
No water appears. Not even a drop

Head for the garage to put tools away.
Break out the Scotch, been a heck of a day

Pat asks is it fixed as I walked out of sight.
Third times a charm. Just hope it holds tight.

Merry Christmas

Sounds like my day with the kitchen sink drain. Standing water in sink will not drain. Several days before it was slow draining so gave it the Drano treatment it seemed to help but it was short lived. Time for more drastic measures, went to Jerrys and purchased a 25-foot snake. Ok after removing the trash bag and all the other items including the sliding drawer which didn't want to unlatch. Finally, I have my tools to remove all the drainpipe then all the cats wanted to help. after putting all of them in the back room I could get started. After finally getting the snake headed down the pipe, all of 25 feet I thought success. Reinstalled piping and I thought I got this. Turned on water and still would not drain, apparently 25 feet not enough. Ok made up a fitting to hook up water hose, thought that I would try this before my last drastic measure the pressure washer. Behold that did the trick. I still need to replace a pipe nipple that is starting to rot. A small drip, but the wife is a happy camper now that its draining. Merry Christmas
