Hey everyone, i wanted to share some info on firearms group that i belong to. The group is called Armed Defense Training Association (ADTA) and I've been a member for about a year now. For me its a perfect balance between taking commercial classes and paying the high prices and just dry firing at home or going to a flat range. They are a non profit club and charge $129.00 for a year membership.
Once a month they rent the an open bay for 2 hours at West Coast Armory North (Everett) and Bellevue Gun Club for live fire training. We are able to run movement drills, unconventional shooting positions, low light, shooting from cover, mag changes, and much more that you can't do standing in a lane. The cost for that is $30.00 but you do have to be a member of ADTA, but you do NOT have to be a member at either range.
They also run a "dry practice" in Lynnwood every other month where we work with CIRT pistols or our own handguns (no ammo allowed in the building) and run similar drills that we do in the live fire events. These events are free for anyone.
Every other month they run a beginner workshop for new shooters in Bellevue and the cost for that is $129.00 which also gets you a yearly membership with ADTA. They also have a "Fun Shoot" once a month in Federal Way and Everett, so if you aren't a new shooter, but want to come to a Live Fire, they ask that you attend a Fun Shoot so the instructors can verify that you know how to handle a firearm and they will feel comfortable with you in an open bay doing more advanced drills. I believe the Fun Shoots are free as well.
Even though this is a "club" 2 of the instructors work at the local ranges and help instruct their classes so the level of instruction you get is on par with some commercial classes. So for around $40 a month, getting to shoot in an open bay and do drills i can't do anywhere else, this is a great deal.
