I have an M4 style AR 15 in .458 SoCom and because it doesn't make the sharp crack of a 5.56 people will often ask me what caliber I''m shooting.
I tell them I'm not really sure and reach into my pocket for some dummy cartridges I carry.
I drop a 5.56 into the chamber and it slides all of the way out the end of the barrel. "Not that one"
Then, I drop in a 7.62x39 and it slides through.... Not that one either.
After watching their expression for a moment I show them a dummy .458 SoCom cartridge with a cast 400gr RN bullet. Seldom fails to get a laugh.
