Ok, it not new, just the first I've seen it here on NWF, and it is a slightly different twist. I'm not one to name names, but something like this happened here. Buyer claims they sent money via PayPal, and has enough information to have at least gone through the motions. But the money never comes. When you contact them to tell them it never came they imply that YOU are trying to rip THEM off, and double down on their insistence that they not only paid, but PayPal says I accepted it as well. Not thinking it through I sent the item hoping that would keep them from roasting me as a thief in feedback, but if course they ghosted me. If I leave them bad feedback (like they care) they'll just retaliate with bad feedback for me (I do care). Gotcha capatilism isn't just for big corporations anymore, it's now everywhere. :-( We've gone beyond caveat emptor - now sellers beware also.

Name names, report it to a mod.
I had some POS burn his bridge here over a $40 pistol sight pusher he never sent.

Luckily mods banned him.

I realize there are rules, but fast action is nessesary to prevent other members from getting ripped off.. so perhaps contact a mod as I think they can track IP, or at least I've seen JL do it when a guy a long time ago had two accounts and was pretending to be two people.

Sorry you got burned.
I agree, this is why I don't do shipping with folks unless they have a decent feedback number.

There's a possible reason, you gave them YOUR PayPal address, they sent the money to a different PayPal user whose address is similar enough to yours but not actually yours.

I think I have heard of such scams in which the "buyer" sets up a new PP address one letter or character off from the legit address (O for 0, or capital I for lowercase L) , and thus sent themselves their money

If I haven't dealt with someone before I insist on a confirmed in a text or email, $1.00 PayPal before any full payment. A couple have said no, so I said goodbye

I mean, that's reasonable. If you were scamming them, worst case is they spent $1 to find out who to blacklist.

I don't think they can ban ip adresses. The scammer can just sign in as a new person. Usmc1775 did it no less than 6 times after he got banned over and over.

I am aware of the possibility they sent to the wrong address, but since they stopped communicating with me I'm unable to followup. I had a seller in his tiredness give me the wrong address, but since it wasn't someone's address who immediately accepted the money I was able to retract it, and re-send. If that is what happened he's running out of time to correct it - but then why would he even go though the trouble, he got the item and to him I might sound like I'm a scammer since he might actually believe he sent the money. As I said POTENTIAL scam alert

It's been getting worse, and worse. I'd been an eBay trader since 2000, and had bought and sold over 3/4 million dollars in those years, I even bought the boat I live on. Until very recently that is. All someone had to do was lie - I sold a pistol slide and barrel, and the buyer claims I sold him a illegal (where he was) threaded barrel (I didn't). eBay kicked me out, banned me for life with no appeal... and kept my money, which I'm sure the scammer got as a refund. I can't even access eBay, and since they don't use PayPal anymore, and eBay does the money I'm just screwed.

You guys must really dislike usmc1775....seems like his name is always out there. I personally have had nothing but great interactions with him. He probably got the boot for the same reasons I did....

I have bought and sold many times online, I always insist, and state up-front, that I only take "certified funds": bank money order or USPS money order.

I've got nothing against him, at one point I was excited to meet him - which I'm sure he must have interpreted much differently than it was meant, and he started pushing my buttons. It'd be funny, if it wasn't so tragic... but still I laugh. I wish him no I'll will, never have.

If it feels the slightest bit off, don't do it. Trust your gut! Trust your instincts!

Stinking scammers, I hate hearing this stuff! Keep spreading the word, best thing we can do to make it harder for these crooks

In case there is some confusion, usmc1775 and 1775usmc are two different users. Usmc1775 got banned some time ago while 1775usmc is still active here.

He used at least 6 different sign ins, making wildfires and upsetting as many people as he could then signing in under a different name each time he was banned. Some of it was really bad. It's all deleted now. They let him back in and he is active at this time. Think about what it takes to get banned that many times on this site. He even pretended to be other members, making a sign in with only 1 letter different than other member's names.

It's easy to talk poorly about someone behind their back while you have them on ignore. Tells me all I need to know about their character.

And to be clear I was never banned. I VOLUNTARILY deactivated my account. Because I needed to step away for personal reasons. I wanted to come back after some time passed and yes I made multiple accounts trying to bypass the rules (once you deactivate your account you can't come back. It's clearly stated). Which I 100% take responsibility for and own. Eventually I came clean about it and talked with the moderators as well as the owner and they allowed me to have my handle back, giving me a second chance which I am grateful for. I have done a very poor job with my interactions with certain individuals here. I'll own it. No problem doing so.

I have never went out of my way to attack anyone personally. I can be very opinionated and very blunt. Which can be taken as a personal attack by certain individuals.

I'm trying to change my interactions here and have had side conversations with multiple moderators. My apologies if individuals took what I have said offensively. I've apologized to many here who I had disagreements with. And will continue to do so.
