My wife likes all things horror.

Me?
Event Horizon
Hellraiser
The nightmare before Christmas
Corpse Bride

Not a fan of Phantasm, the one with the weird orange blood and flying devices?

Do the Alien franchise count? "In space no one can hear you scream"
Same for Predator franchise (my favorites are the first two and Predators. Not a fan of The Predator or the AVP duology. I liked Killer of Killers animated feature though)

Big fan of both horror and sci-fi genres and Halloween is my favorite holiday.

  • Hereditary
  • Let the Right One In (the Swedish version)
  • Nosferatu (F. W. Murnau)
  • Nosferatu the Vampyre
  • The Exorcist (I also recommend the novel by Blatty)
  • The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari
  • Talk to Me
  • 28 Days Later
  • Night of the Living Dead
  • Evil Dead series
  • It (2017)
  • The Others (just a classic ghost story)
  • The Thing
Others... but I'll stop there for now.

Good list but especially the first and last ones. I'm go to see Hereditary tomorrow on the big screen.

Tonight, it's the original Psycho.

I consider Hereditary both top shelf horror and a trip to Crazy Town and I think it put the director Ari Aster on the horror map.

True story: as teenagers my friend and I found a copy of The Lesser Key of Solomon in his mother's library. You'll understand the significance of this after you've watched the movie.

And that ending scene... oh laawd...

Tell us what you thought of the movie here after you've watched it.

House On Haunted Hill (the original) was always a favorite.

The Birds.

I tend to like movies that have a bit of 'psychological thriller' along with the horror.
Oh snap... and on that note I forgot to mention King's "The Shining" under the directorship of Kubrick. This is one of the pillars of horror.

Funny anecdote: I saw a 70mm screening of "Phantasm" at the Hollywood Theater in Portland with the director there and the guy in front of me was wearing a sweater with the carpet pattern from The Shing. I don't know who is the bigger nerd: that guy or me for recognizing the pattern.

Dang, never been much of a horror flick guy. Wifey not a fan either. Though as a youngster it was common to sleep at a friend house, or him at mine, on Friday nights. Watching a 21" black & white TV. The deal was we needed to stay up until "Nightmare Theater" came on at 11:00pm. Some old ones I'd like to see again. "Screaming Skull" "The Crawling hand". HELL, those were near first run movies when we were watching them! '58 and '63!
I was never a fan of Jason Myers. Halloween 3 didn't have the maniac in it for some reason and I liked that movie. Having a "HACKER" with a knife, chainsaw or other garden implement chase some around screaming for 10 minutes in the movie before they finally bleed them out is boring as hell to me.
The original "Saw" was good. Minus points though with slow parts the didn't have much of a point. And never saw a reason to watch all the sequels that pour out from some scary flick.
"Invasion of The Body Snatcher's" 1st and 2nd good for me.
"Phantasm" I liked. The first time. Watched it again in the last year, just didn't seem as good.
These days, I think, "Young Frankenstein" is more to my liking.
We watch "Hocus Pocus" every years at this time, does that count? :D

MST3K did an episode on "The Screaming Skull" and it's hilarious.

We used to watch that from time to time. We were watching Svengoolie too occasionally before he got too dumb acting, and stretched the show out and extra half hour for more of his dumbness. What age-group would he be appealing to at that time of night?
