A new drill QRC has been added summarizing the USMC Combat Pistol Program Qualification course of fire. The card is based on MCO Order 3574.2M, dated 6 Apr 2022, Appendix K.

USMC Combat Pistol Program Quick Reference Card

If useful for practice or civilian use, an approximation of the center mass and head area of an MPSM-1 target can be used to shoot the course of fire. A 8 1/2 x 11 printable upper and lower of the IALEFI-Q has also been added to the web site in the printable target file page for this purpose:

IALEFI-Q Upper Zone

IALEFI-Q Lower Zone

I have added a new feature to the web site: Target Files by Category

You can use this to find target files based on how they are used. I think this will be easier than scrolling through a list, which was getting a bit unwieldy, I thought.

Categories include:

Circles Targets mostly based on circles
Blocks, Squares or Rectangles Targets mostly based on blocks, squares or rectangles
Mixed Shape Targets Targets with a mix of shapes suitable for transition drills
NRA B-8 Targets and derivations Targets based on the NRA B-8 Repair Center
Qualification Targets Targets associated with Qualifications
USPSA Targets Targets using USPSA related shapes
Reduced Scale Targets Reduced scale targets for dry practice / confined spaces
Zeroing Aid Targets Targets useful for zeroing optics or iron sights
Miscellaneous, Special Purpose or Historical Targets

Also did some light dusting and vacuuming on the web site in general, nothing major.

Happy Thanksgiving all. :)

Are you a department or unit instructor, or just want a complete library for reference?

Up-to-date compressed zip archive files are now available at a new File Download page. These archives contain all the files available on the web site.

Two archives are available, one containing all the Pistol Drills, and a second containing all the Targets. Download the archive file to your computer, then extract / uncompress for local access. Approximate files sizes are: Pistol Drill Archive – 3.4 Mb, Target File Archive – 1.7 Mb.

Target File Archive

Note: It has been a couple months since the last release of these archives (Sep). These new versions include all drill and target files as of "1 December".

Since the target file by category feature turned out to be popular, I went ahead and created a similar pistol drill by category page for the web site.

This may be easier to use than scrolling through the current alphabetical list, which I thought was getting a little unwieldy.

Check out the new drill groups at the links below!

Classic Drills Drills that are Classic Foundational Pistol Drills
Low Round Count Drills Drills with low round counts (say 10 rds or less)
Misc or Special Purpose Drills
Revolver Drills
Drills useful for Revolvers
Qualification Drills Drills Centered on Qualification
SHO / WHO Drills Drills for dominant hand only non-dominant hand only
Transition Drills Drills involving transitions i.e. near/far large/small

A new GSSF Drill page has been added to the web site. By the names, the applicability should be pretty clear:

5 to G (llando88) This is an accuracy drill shot on an 8" circle
G ' M (llando88) This is a transition drill using a 6" and 2" circles
G t P (llando88) This is a simulation of a plate drill using 2" circles

To support these drills, I also created a GSSF Target page. The below targets may be used for practice:

8" Circle Low Contrast Brown A single 8" circle on a brown uniform background
8" Circle One 8" circle
6 Plus 2 One 6" circle and one 2" circle

(BTW, if you shoot GSSF Indoor Matches, I have a D-1 target also, to approximate the bullseye area of a D-1 or "Tombstone" target.)

A new category of Pistol Drills has been added to the web site: Accuracy Drills at Distance

This category is for drills that require high-precision shooting at 25+ YD. The current set of drills includes:

1911 Addicts Coin Challenge Drill This drill requires two runs of 2 shots each, on a USPSA A zone at 25 yards, in 2 seconds from the draw.

Bondi Beach Drill This drill honors Detective Senior Constable Cesar Barraza, who took out the two Islamic terrorists from 40 yards at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia on Dec 14, 2025, during a Hanukkah celebration, using his Glock 22 service pistol and iron sights.

Dicken Drill This drill is inspired by the incident on July 17, 2022, in which Elisjsha Dicken, a legally-armed 22-year-old man, stopped a subject that had fatally shot three people and injured two others. From a distance of forty yards, Dicken fired ten rounds from his Glock 19 handgun, hitting eight times.

No Fail Pistol Drill (Chuck Pressburg) This drill requires 10 separate strings of 1 round into the black of a B-8 at 25 yards, with a par time of 3.5 seconds for each.

Par 5 (Justin Dyal) This drill is four strings of 1, 2, 3, and 4 rounds (10 total) from low ready on a B-8 at 25 yards, each string with a par time of 5.0 seconds.

Pistol Drill QRC News

I was pleased to see pistoldrillqrc reach 10,000 views and almost 4,000 visitors in 2025. Traffic increased steadily the last few months, and finished strong in December with over 1,500 views:

The Archive Downloads were refreshed on 12/31. These Zip archives contain the latest, up to date files for all 55 drills (3.8 Mb) and 55 target (1.8 Mb) files:

The site landing page is now "by category", but the entire list of pistol drills is still available on a new list of all drills page, with the same content as before.

Two new drill cards were created: the Bondi Beach Drill and the Dicken Drill. These were placed into a new Accuracy at Distance page (drills that require high-precision shooting at 25+ YD).

Content on the GSSF drill page was boosted to cover skill elements of GSSF matches:

5 to G (llando88) This is an accuracy drill shot on an 8″ circle
G ' M (llando88) This is a transition drill using a 6″ and 2″ circles
G t P (llando88) This is a simulation of a plate drill using 2″ circles

MRDS QRC News

Site traffic continues to be steady, with mrdsqrc seeing just over 7,500 views in 2025.
In other updates, the MRDS QRC Archive Dowload was refreshed on 12/31. This Zip archive contains the latest, up to date files for all 96 MRDS QRCs (5.5 Mb).

The MRDS Master Table was refreshed on 12/31/25 to revision 18.3.

With the release of the Glock Gen 6 pistols on December 8, I expanded on the Utilities and Tools section to add a pair of pages to cover future developments and information on the Gen 6 optic plates, and Gen 6 mounting screws:

GLOCK™ Gen6 Table of Optic Plates
GLOCK™ Gen6 Table of Mounting Screws

Revision 18 will continue to be the standard format for all MRDS QRCs edited/generated in 2026. This mostly consists of subtle formatting and clarity tweaks.

Future Plans

I'll continue to monitor the market, in particular SHOT show coming up later this month, for new optic announcements, and keep making small improvements on site usability.

As always, I appreciate the interest in this effort, and hope these cards continue to be useful.

Pistol Drill QRC News

PistoldrillQRC continues to have steadily growing page views, with January (1,767 views) being higher than December (1,498 views). It's always interesting to me to peek at where visitors come from; after the United States, the other countries in the rest of the top five include France, Romania, Austria, and the Netherlands.

I would not have thought France to be the European hotbed of pistol drill interest, but apparently it is.

Three new "Zeroing Targets" were added for iron sights. They are essentially just fancy NRA B-8 bullseyes, with a "sight" graphic as an aide memoire drawn at the appropriate elevation:

Zeroing Target – 6 o'clock Hold
Zeroing Target - Center Hold

Zeroing Target – Combat Hold

MRDS QRC News

Site traffic finished very strong in January with mrdsqrc seeing just over 1,539 page views, almost double that of December.

The MRDS Master Table was refreshed on 2/2/26 to revision 18.9. The Table matrix now lists data on over 200 separate optic skus, and features a much more complete set of MSRP Deck Height information.

More progress on available Glock Gen 6 optic plates and mounting screws was placed into the Utilities and Tools section:

GLOCK™ Gen6 ORS Plates
GLOCK™ Gen6 ORS Mounting Screws

Holosun has released information on a quite a number of new optics ahead of SHOT show, so new QRCs were added:

407C-X3-RD2
407COMP-RD6
EPS-CORE-RD3
507C X3-RD-MRS

507-PROMAX-RD-PRS

AEMS-MICRO-RD-MRS
AEMS-MACRO-RD-MRS

Each of these QRCs is in a new set of revised Holosun web pages. Other QRCs refreshed include:

Aimpoint® COA™
Trijicon RMR Type 2: RMR® Type 2

I just completed an usability upgrade to my QRC web sites to convert from page links to buttons.

Instead of having a text line with hyperlink, the Buttons "are" the link. They are much larger and easier to select, in particular on mobile devices. In addition, I made some subtle tweaks to the free template Wordpress offers.

An image of what a typical page now looks like is below:

This upgrade was performed on both Quick Reference Card sites:
